Summary: The IDEOM initiative provided an update on the development of patient-centered outcome measures for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis at the GRAPPA annual meeting. The Treatment Satisfaction working group introduced a specific questionnaire for dermatological conditions, while the Musculoskeletal Symptoms working group discussed the implementation of a screening tool for identifying PsA in psoriasis patients or preventing symptom worsening.

Summary: Psoriasis used to be considered a skin disease with complications related to diet and obesity, but it is now recognized as a systemic inflammatory disease with cytokines that can induce various other diseases. Individuals with psoriasis have higher incidences of cerebral and cardiovascular diseases and tend to die at a younger age. Clear guidelines have not yet been established for how much vascular lesion testing should be performed in patients with psoriasis.

Summary: Psoriasis, previously considered as a skin-limited condition, is now recognized as a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory disease with systemic manifestations. Besides the skin changes, it is associated with important comorbidities, such as psoriatic arthritis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and inflammatory bowel disease. Psoriasis is also an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, and biological therapy may have an effect on atherosclerosis regression.

Summary: Psoriasis (PsO) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease affecting approximately 2% of the global population. The incidence of comorbidities in PsO patients is higher compared to the normal population. Research over the past 20 years on the genetic components of PsO has provided insight into the genetic associations between PsO and its comorbidities, leading to further understanding and potential advancements in drug development and treatment methods for PsO and its comorbidities.

Summary: The efficacy and safety of COVID-19 vaccination in patients with autoimmune inflammatory diseases who are treated with immunomodulatory therapies were discussed at a virtual symposium. The keynote speaker provided guidance on vaccine response modification and emphasized the importance of vaccination for increased protection against COVID-19. Patient research partners expressed concerns about vaccine efficacy and safety, ongoing social habits, and medication management during the panel discussion.

Summary: A stratified medicine approach for psoriasis treatment aims to improve clinical decision-making by predicting individual patient response based on clinical, pharmacological, and omics data. The PSORT Consortium, funded by the UK Medical Research Council, focuses on discovering predictors and stratifiers of psoriasis response to biologic therapies. A showcase meeting in London in November 2019 highlighted the research findings and significant advances made by PSORT towards personalized management of psoriasis.

Summary: Psoriasis is associated with cardiometabolic comorbidities such as cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndrome, with risk increasing with psoriasis severity. Biologic therapy improves life quality of patients and reduces incidences of cardiometabolic comorbidities, but caution is needed considering the pathogenic mechanisms and prevention strategies of these comorbidities.

Summary: The French Phage Network (Phages.fr) has experienced continuous growth since its establishment eight years ago. The annual conference, held at the Institut Pasteur in Paris from the 11th to 13th of October 2022, attracted 164 participants. Researchers from academic laboratories, hospitals, and private companies shared their ongoing projects and breakthroughs at the historic institute where Felix d'Herelle pioneered phage therapy. The conference encompassed four thematic sessions, featuring keynote lectures on the interaction between phages and bacterial immune systems, the ecology and evolution of phage-bacteria interactions, the molecular interplay between phages and their hosts, and the therapeutic and biotechnological applications of phages. A total of 32 talks and 33 posters were presented during the conference.

Summary: This study investigated the epidemiological situation of psoriasis in the Polish population by evaluating disease course and severity, management, comorbidities, environmental factors, and knowledge about the disorder among psoriatic patients. The results showed that psoriasis had a significant impact on the quality of life and was influenced by factors such as stress, infections, and seasonal changes. Psoriatic patients were also more likely to be smokers. Epidemiological studies can help improve understanding of the disease and patient compliance.

Summary: Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin disease with complex pathogenesis and multiple etiological factors. The discovery of IL-23/Th17 axis has revealed the mechanism of accelerated inflammation in psoriasis, leading to insights into disease pathogenesis and revolutionizing therapeutic approaches. However, a unifying mechanism for understanding the disease pathogenesis is still lacking.

Summary: This study aims to compare the prevalence of comorbidities in women versus men hospitalised with gout in Spain. Women with gout were significantly older and had a higher prevalence of obesity, dyslipidaemia, chronic kidney disease, diabetes mellitus, heart failure, dementia, urinary tract infection, and concurrent rheumatic disease. A decision tree algorithm was constructed to predict the sex of patients with gout based on age and comorbidities alone.

Summary: This paper summarizes the data from the European Renal Association Registry Annual Report 2020, focusing on kidney replacement therapy (KRT) and comparisons among primary renal disease groups. The study found that the incidence of KRT in 2020 was 128 per million population, with a majority of patients receiving hemodialysis. Additionally, the kidney transplantation rate was 28 per million population, with a majority of kidney grafts coming from deceased donors. Comparisons based on primary renal disease group revealed differences in age distribution, sex, and treatment modality received.
