Summary: The hand and wrist are frequently involved in rheumatic diseases, and this study aimed to identify the distinguishing radiographic characteristics of psoriatic arthritis (PsA), seropositive rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and seronegative RA, especially in the early stages. The analysis of radiographic hand findings on 180 seropositive RA patients, 154 PsA patients, and 36 seronegative RA patients revealed that symmetric distribution of lesions was more suggestive of seropositive or seronegative RA, while lesions affecting PIP joints, wrist, or styloid process of the radius were more common in patients with seropositive RA. PsA was more likely to be suggested by DIP joints' involvement and proliferative bone changes. Furthermore, there were differences in the types of bone lesions and their distribution between seropositive RA, seronegative RA, and PsA, with ulnar styloid involvement more commonly seen in seronegative RA patients.

Summary: This study focused on patient satisfaction with treatment results for hand and wrist conditions, finding that the Satisfaction with Treatment Result Questionnaire had high test-retest reliability and good-to-excellent construct validity. The results indicated strong correlations between satisfaction levels and willingness to undergo treatment again, as well as with pain and function assessments.

Summary: The objective of this study was to assess the transition probability and time spent with functional disability (FD) between patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and those without RA after the incidence/index date. The results showed that patients with RA remained functionally disadvantaged compared to individuals without RA. The probability of returning to no FD decreased with each additional preexisting FD, but the probability of FD did not increase within 10 years of RA onset.

Summary: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that can cause joint damage, deformity, and functional impairment. Shoulder involvement is less common but can be underdiagnosed if not carefully analyzed, especially in uncontrolled disease. This case report presents a 70-year-old male with difficult-to-manage RA showing severe shoulder arthritis and a giant geode in the left humeral head on MRI. The striking MRI image of a giant geode in poorly controlled RA should raise suspicion of shoulder involvement for early investigation and treatment.

Summary: This study analyzed the nutritional status of individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and compared it with cohorts of individuals with other forms of arthritis and without arthritis. The results showed a higher prevalence of overweight, obesity, and metabolic syndrome in RA and other forms of arthritis. This indicates that individuals with RA have an increased cardiovascular risk.

Summary: The aim of this study was to validate the Arabic versions of the Beliefs about Medication Questionnaire-specific (BMQ-specific) and Medication Adherence Report Scale questionnaire (MARS-5). A total of 485 patients from secondary and tertiary care clinics in Jordan were recruited for a cross-sectional study. The results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses showed that the BMQ-specific had a two-factor model and the MARS-5 had a one-factor model. The internal consistency of the questionnaires was also confirmed. This study suggests that the Arabic versions of both BMQ-specific and MARS-5 are valid for the study population.

Summary: The study evaluated the quality of translation procedures and assessment of psychometric properties of cross-cultural adaptations of the DASH questionnaire. Results showed that none of the versions assessed all measurement properties and all studies received a poor rating according to the COSMIN checklist. Further research is needed to improve the adaptations, especially in terms of agreement, responsiveness, and interpretability.

Summary: The 10-year outcome of patients with early rheumatoid arthritis (RA) from the ESPOIR cohort showed favorable results, with a significant proportion achieving remission and good control of symptoms. However, some patients developed new comorbidities over the follow-up period, and positivity for anti-citrullinated peptides antibodies (ACPA) was confirmed as a strong predictor of long-term outcome.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the health utility and its correlation among patients with bilateral hand amputation. The results showed that the EuroQol HU derivative is preferable to the TTO method. Additionally, there was a strong correlation between the Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) scores and health utility, with the DASH score being a good predictor of health utility scores.

Summary: Patient-reported outcome measurement (PROM) tools are essential in evaluating health status and treatment response. Their use has increased in clinical practice and research, particularly in the field of upper extremity care. Parameters such as minimal clinically important difference, substantial clinical benefit, and patient acceptable symptom state contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the clinical significance of patient-reported outcomes.

Summary: This study aimed to test the validity and reliability of the Self-Efficacy for Managing Chronic Disease (SEMCD-Arabic) questionnaire in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The results showed that the SEMCD-Arabic scale had positive or negative correlations with other validated measurement tools, indicating good convergent and discriminant validity. Additionally, the test-retest reliability assessment demonstrated excellent consistency and reliability of the scale.

Summary: The ten-year outcomes of seleXys TH+ cup with Ceramys CoC bearing showed an unacceptably high rate of aseptic loosening, but stabilized over time. The stabilization of early revision rates may be attributed to a problem with osseointegration during the transition from primary to definitive stability.

Summary: This study compared the migration characteristics of hydroxyapatite coated (HA+) and uncoated (HA-) Zweymuller-type hip stems through a double-blinded randomised RSA trial with a 5-year follow-up. The results showed that the addition of a hydroxyapatite coating did not influence the migration of the hip stem after 5 years, and there were no significant differences in clinical outcomes between the two groups.

Summary: This study analyzed data from the Dutch Arthroplasty Register and found that ceramic-on-ceramic (CoC) bearings had a higher 2-year cup revision rate compared to ceramic-on-polyethylene (CoPE) bearings in press-fit total hip arthroplasty. The main reason for revision in CoC bearings was cup loosening.

Summary: There was a significant relationship between the difference in knee extension angle during gait between patients and controls with the Oxford Knee Score (OKS), where an increase of 1 degree in difference led to a reduction of 1.0 to 1.6 points in OKS. Patients overall exhibited less knee extension compared to controls, while ankle and hip gait parameters and joint moments did not show any correlation with OKS.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether consulting an occupational medicine specialist (OMS) within 3 months after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery can lead to an earlier return to work (RTW) for patients. The results showed that consulting an OMS did not result in a decrease in time to RTW for TKA patients. However, TKA patients with high expectations returned to work earlier without consulting an OMS.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to assess the failure rate, revision rate, and functional outcomes of treating acute ACL rupture with the Ligamys device. It was found that the failure rate of the device was 30.2%, which did not meet the non-inferiority criterion compared to ACL reconstruction. However, good functional outcomes were observed in patients without the need for secondary reconstructive surgery, even in the presence of anteroposterior knee laxity.
