Summary: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common metabolic disorder during pregnancy with significant impact on the health of both mother and newborn. Recent research has focused on the expression levels and circulating characteristics of adipokines in different tissues of GDM patients.

Summary: This study analyzed the factors associated with insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction in the pathophysiology of GDM complicated with macrosomia. It also assessed the relationship between GDM with macrosomia and various anthropometric, clinical, and paraclinical parameters.

Summary: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a significant metabolic complication of pregnancy that affects the future health of both the mother and the newborn. The pathogenesis of GDM is not fully understood, but it is clear that placental secretion of insulin-like growth factors, adipokines, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, cytokines, and insulin resistance play a key role. Additionally, DNA methylation of related molecules and pathway-related genes influence gene expression and contribute to the pathogenesis of GDM.

Summary: This study investigated the regulation of ACBP in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) during pregnancy and postpartum. The results showed that ACBP levels decreased during pregnancy and increased after pregnancy, and ACBP was related to beta cell function and renal markers.

Summary: Gestational diabetes mellitus is the most common medical complication in pregnancy, affecting approximately 15% of pregnancies worldwide. It increases the risk of complications and may lead to the development of type 2 diabetes in both the mother and infant. The increasing incidence of GDM also poses a significant economic burden.

Summary: The study found that, unlike leptin and adiponectin, resistin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is not associated with BMI and insulin resistance, but with inflammation and decreased kidney function. Leptin is positively correlated with insulin resistance, while adiponectin is negatively correlated with it.

Summary: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common metabolic disease in pregnant women, early diagnosis is crucial for the health of both mother and fetus. Identifying biopredictors at the start of pregnancy is key, with potential use of less known biomolecules. High FABP4 levels, low irisin levels, and high under-carboxylated osteocalcin levels may be predictive markers for GDM diagnosis.

Summary: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a transient metabolic condition caused by dysregulation due to intolerance to carbohydrates during pregnancy, resulting in harmful effects to the mother and fetus, with the placenta playing a key role in this process.

Summary: This study finds that GDM-obese pregnancies are characterized by inadequate VAT remodeling and dysfunctional molecular signaling, which contribute to insulin resistance and hinder metabolic health.

Summary: This study investigated the association between remnant cholesterol (RC) and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) risk. The results showed that elevated RC levels were associated with an increased risk of GDM, independent of traditional risk factors.

Summary: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) poses a significant public health concern, affecting 9-15% of pregnancies worldwide. This study found that EV-associated miRNAs in GDM patients undergo significant changes during gestation and can be effectively used for classification. A set of proteins associated with JAK-STAT signaling in skeletal muscle biopsies from GDM patients was identified, which may be targeted by the miRNA-92a-3p carried by circulating EVs. Overexpression of miRNA-92a-3p was shown to increase insulin sensitivity in primary skeletal muscle cells.

Summary: Iron supplementation in pregnancy may increase the risk of gestational diabetes, particularly in women who are already iron-replete. However, current evidence on this topic is contradictory, and the magnitude of any increased risk appears relatively small, urging caution in interpreting the results.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the role of post-diagnosis circulating adipokines on long-term prognosis in breast cancer patients. Overall, post-diagnosis adipokines were not associated with long-term outcomes, but higher concentrations of adiponectin in patients with ERPR negative tumors may be associated with increased breast cancer specific mortality.

Summary: This study compared postpartum glucose tolerance between women treated for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and those not treated. The results showed that treating GDM lowers birth weight but does not disrupt the association between gestational glycemia and maternal prediabetes/diabetes after pregnancy. Insulin sensitivity and beta-cell function decreased, while fasting and 2-h glucose levels increased progressively across the five groups.

Summary: This study compared different methods for modeling gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in rats and found that a combination of a high-fat and high-sugar (HFHS) diet with intraperitoneal injection of 25 mg/kg STZ was the best method. The GDM model constructed using this method exhibited pathological characteristics similar to human GDM patients.
