Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome is associated with postpartum depressed mood and symptoms among high-risk mothers, with prenatal depression and anxiety mediating this association. Nearly 20% of women in the population-based sample who reported at least 2 PCOS symptoms did not receive a clinical diagnosis, highlighting the importance of psychological screening among women with PCOS.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of weight loss on the endometrium specific proteome, endocrine-metabolic characteristics, and motor capabilities of obese women with PCOS and infertility. The results showed increased protein abundance in certain proteins and decreased abundance in others in the endometrium after weight loss, as well as significant reductions in fasting blood glucose and free testosterone levels, and improvements in body composition and physical capacity.

Summary: This study successfully established a PCOS model in mice using STZ, with findings indicating that low doses of STZ can induce PCOS features without causing diabetes features. Different doses of STZ treatment had varying effects on body weight, blood glucose levels, and hormone levels in mice.

Summary: In women with polycystic ovary syndrome, free-androgen index (FAI) and free testosterone (FT) are superior to total testosterone (TT) in correlation with phenotypic and metabolic parameters. FT and TT are significantly positively correlated with LH/FSH, while FAI and FT are significantly correlated with metabolic syndrome incidence. FAI is significantly related to ovulations per cycle, pregnancy, conception, and live birth rates, while increased FT level is related to decreased rates of ovulations per cycle, conception, and pregnancy after adjusting for age.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the prevalence and severity of anxiety and depression symptoms, ego-resiliency levels, and stress-coping methods among women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) compared to healthy women. The results showed that women with PCOS had higher levels of anxiety and depression, as well as poorer ego-resiliency, compared to healthy women. Furthermore, the study identified specific socio-demographic characteristics that were associated with increased anxiety and depression levels in women with PCOS.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disease in women of childbearing age, causing menstrual disorders and infertility. The pathogenesis of PCOS is complex and not fully understood. Gut microbiota is associated with lipid, glucose, and steroid hormone metabolism disorders. Recent studies have shown that gut microbiota can regulate insulin synthesis and secretion, and affect androgen metabolism and follicle development, providing a new perspective for understanding the pathogenesis of PCOS.

Summary: Existing studies have shown a significant association between alterations in gonadal and neuroactive steroids (NASs) and mood symptoms among women with PCOS, with a particular focus on the role of allopregnanolone (ALLO) in reproductive-related psychiatric disorders. Further research is needed to better understand the biological causes of psychiatric symptoms in women with PCOS and to inform clinical treatment.
