Summary: An in situ polymerization method was used to prepare TPU/graphene and TPU/graphite composites, and it was found that the intrinsic properties and dispersion level of fillers have significant effects on the morphology and properties of TPU. The variations in glass transition temperature and thermal transitions of TPU composites were related to the agglomeration level and intrinsic filler properties.

Summary: This article focuses on the evaporation process of ethanol, n-hexane, and n-octane by utilizing a Differential Scanning Calorimetry/Thermogravimetric Analysis (DSC/TGA) method. An Aspen Plus model is used to predict the liquid and vapor phase concentrations during mixture evaporation, and the validation of the model is confirmed by comparing the trends of the mass spectrometry (MS) ion count profiles.

Summary: The thermal and crystallization properties of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) in the presence of metaleorganic frameworks (MOFs) such as UiO-66(Zr) were systematically studied. UiO-66(Zr) functions as a key nucleating agent in the PET scheme, and adding UiO-66 accelerates the crystallization of PET.

Summary: Analytical reagents have the capability to identify and control metal pollution, but the safety concerns regarding their thermal properties, especially when heated, have been overlooked. This research investigates the thermal hazards of the highly reactive analytical reagent styphnic acid through various experimental methods, and calculates its apparent activation energy. The study reveals that styphnic acid exhibits thermal instability at elevated temperatures, and the hazard is dependent on the heating rate. Therefore, it is essential to consider the thermal risks and adopt safe storage and transportation practices during analytical applications.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of three different waste plastic-modified asphalts on the performance of conventional asphalt and determined the optimal preparation parameters. The mechanism of waste plastic-modified asphalt was elucidated using thermogravimetric-differential scanning calorimetry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Waste plastic-modified asphalts exhibited better high-temperature performance and can effectively address the issue of waste plastic disposal.

Summary: The study found that the size of microplastic particles affects the DSC signal, but through appropriate sample preparation, signals corresponding to microplastics of different sizes can be identified and quantified. Additionally, the application of DSC technique in the field of microplastics may provide estimates of the number of microplastic particles within a sample.

Summary: This research focuses on thermoplastic polyamide (PA6)-based composites reinforced with basalt and Kevlar fabrics. The stacking sequence of basalt and two types of Kevlar fabrics were altered to develop hybrid composites. Mechanical and thermomechanical properties of the developed samples were evaluated, including tensile, flexural, and impact strength tests, as well as thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. Scanning electron microscopy was used to study the fracture and failure nature of the composites. The results showed that hybridization with basalt improved the mechanical performance and thermal stability of the composites using Kevlar fabric. The stacking order of the reinforcements could alter the thermomechanical characteristics. These novel hybrid composites have potential applications in high-load-bearing and high-temperature environments.

Summary: This study aimed to develop kenaf/pineapple-reinforced bio-epoxy biocomposites and investigate their properties under accelerated weathering conditions. The results showed that hybridizing kenaf/pineapple laminates improved interfacial strength and stiffness, while reducing moisture sensitivity during accelerated weathering. Additionally, the morphology and fracture behavior of the biocomposites were examined using scanning electron microscopy.

Summary: This study demonstrates ultrahigh and stable enantioselectivity using CD-MOF/PES mixed-matrix membranes. The decline of membrane enantioselectivity is found to be influenced by the interaction of solvent with chiral molecules and MOF structure. This work provides a new strategy for designing enantioselective membranes based on homochiral MOFs.
