Summary: The study focuses on the current flow through a glass cylindrical discharge tube with a metal section. A hydrodynamic model of a one-component conductive liquid is used to investigate the phenomenon. It is observed that the presence of a metal section causes the discharge current to branch into two components: one flowing through the gas volume and another along the approximately equipotential metal surface. The study also explores the two-dimensional distributions of electric potential, electric field, and current density based on the size of the metal section and the radius of the discharge tube. Additionally, the spatial distribution of excitation sources and the occurrence of a space charge near the glass-metal interface are analyzed.

Summary: II-VI-type semiconductor nanoclusters exhibit unique and attractive properties in the field of nanotechnology. The use of ionic liquids as solvents has been proposed to address the challenge of low reaction kinetics in conventional solvents, which hinders the production of different metastable polymorphs. Identifying the solvation of these nanoclusters in ionic liquids is crucial for further research.

Summary: Discharge in liquid is a promising technique for producing nanomaterials through electrode erosion. However, the production of nanoalloys through in-liquid discharges remains challenging. In this study, nanoalloys of Ni-Fe, Ni-Co, Co-Fe, and Ni-Co-Fe were successfully synthesized through spark discharge in liquid cyclohexane. The results offer new pathways for producing a wide range of nanoalloys.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of an ionic liquid interlayer to address interfacial issues in sulfide-based solid-state sodium batteries (SSSBs). The interlayer stabilizes the Na metal/SSE interface, enabling the formation of a stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) and preventing harmful reactions and Na dendrite growth. Experimental and simulation results reveal that the stable SEI is composed of reduced products of TFSI-. Symmetric cells and FeS2||Na quasi-solid-state batteries exhibit stable cycling performance and high specific capacity.

Summary: Metal-metal batteries have great potential for large-scale energy storage systems due to their simple manufacturing process and low production costs. However, the migration of metal cations from the cathode to the anode reduces capacity and affects battery stability. To address this issue, a coating of poly (ionic liquid) (PIL) with poly(diallyldimethylammonium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide) (PDADMA(+)TFSI(-)) on a commercial polypropylene (PP) separator is utilized as an anion exchange membrane for a copper-lithium battery. The PIL coating improves Coulombic efficiency, long-term cycling stability, and inhibits self-discharge of the battery.

Summary: For the first time, a dispersive micro-solid phase extraction (D-mu SPE) based on graphene oxide was used for the ultrasensitive determination of Cd. With this method, Cd can be efficiently extracted from a mixture of alkali and alkaline earth metals without the need for an elution step. The combination of D-mu SPE and SAGD OES significantly reduces matrix effects and improves the tolerance of Cd to alkali metals. The method shows simplicity in the measurement system and the commercially available nanosorbent used.

Summary: The Solution-Cathode Glow Discharge (SCGD) is a plasma source that provides simplicity and low consumption for elemental analysis. When combined with Optical Emission Spectrometry (OES), it can achieve ng/mL limits of detection for multiple elements. This study focuses on fundamental plasma diagnostics of SCGD and investigates how dissolved ions in the sample solution affect the performance of the analysis.

Summary: The solution-cathode glow discharge (SCGD) using a novel rectangular-shaped cathode capillary is employed to study aspects of the plasma-liquid interface, with high-speed video and low-angle laser scattering techniques used to evaluate potential mechanisms related to surface-plasma interaction. Frame-by-frame analysis of high-speed video allows estimation of droplet number density, translational speed, and rate of ejection, providing insight into potential analyte transport mechanisms important for analytical atomic spectrometry using SCGD.

Summary: Plasmas have been used as ionization sources in mass spectrometry experiments since the early days of Thomson and Aston. Plasma ion sources were chosen because they were one of the few known sources of gas-phase ions at the time and were relatively easy to set up and operate. The development of plasma ionization has led to advancements in mass spectrometry and laid the foundation for ionization approaches, mass analysis, and detection methods for very large molecules.

Summary: This study aims to elucidate the nature of plasma self-organization through experimental research on the patterns formed on liquid anode surfaces with 13 different electrolytes. The observed pattern characteristic length scales ranged from 2 to 13 mm and typically increased with current, with complex self-organized patterns observed that have not been reported to date. The parameters associated with pattern formation and morphology complexity are discussed and summarized.

Summary: By combining ICP OES with a novel FIGA mode, a more sensitive determination of Hg was achieved. The proposed method showed a much higher analytical signal for Hg compared to conventional PN-ICP OES, resulting in a significantly improved detection limit (0.035 μg/L) and measurement precision (2.5%). It also offered a 4 times lower detection limit compared to CVG-ICP OES (0.15 μg/L).
