Summary: Mixing tryptophan and tyrosine in concentrated aqueous hydrochloric acid can produce a stable blue-purple color, similar to the emission observed in photolysis experiments. This color is believed to be caused by the generation of charge-transfer complexes through electron transfer reactions or direct hole-trapping mechanisms after the solvent radical oxidation of tryptophan. The color reaction exhibits high selectivity towards tryptophan and tyrosine, making it a convenient method for visually identifying their coexistence or protein modifications related to them.

Summary: The study presents the utilization of Ti3C2Tx MXene liquid crystals as alignment media for the measurement of residual dipolar coupling (RDC) in organic molecules. The Ti3C2Tx LCs display size- and concentration-dependent alignment degree and exhibit the features of no-background and narrow line broadening, allowing for the acquisition of clean and high-quality NMR spectra for accurate RDC extraction. Moreover, the alignment of LCs can be maintained in the redispersed solution after freeze-drying, providing convenience for long-term sample preservation and quantitative evaluation of alignment degree. This study demonstrates the potential of creating various alignment media from the MXene family.

Summary: In the last decade, advances in sequencing technology have resulted in a significant increase in genomic data, transforming our understanding of gene and genome evolution and function. However, identifying contaminated reads remains challenging. To address this, GenomeFLTR is introduced as a web server that filters contaminated reads by comparing them against relevant sequence databases, allowing users to investigate the source and frequency of contamination and generate a contamination-free file.

Summary: The study presents a modified peak patch excursion set formalism for computing the mass and size distribution of QCD axion miniclusters, based on a fully non-Gaussian initial density field obtained from numerical simulations of axion string decay. Strong agreement with N-body simulations is found at significantly lower computational cost. The method employs a spherical collapse model and provides fitting functions for the modified barrier in the radiation era.

Summary: The PANI/Ag2O/Cu2O (PAC) direct dual-Z-scheme heterojunction was synthesized by ultrasonic-assisted wet impregnation method, demonstrating efficient photodegradation of methylene blue. Factors influencing the degradation rate, degradation mechanism, and intermediate formed were analyzed. XPS analysis and electrochemical study suggested a plausible direct dual-Z-scheme charge migration mechanism based on the alignment of energy bands.

Summary: In this study, a Z-scheme core-shell WO3-Cu2O nanorods array was synthesized via one-step hydrothermal and electrochemical deposition method. The effects of electrodeposition time on the performance of the products were investigated. The results showed that the optimum Cu2O deposition time was 120 s. The deposited Cu2O nanoparticles enhanced the visible light absorption and inhibited the recombination of photogenerated carriers. The photoelectrochemical measurement also demonstrated the improved separation of photogenerated carriers. Overall, the Z-scheme WO3-Cu2O core-shell heterojunction played a crucial role in enhancing the photocatalytic activity.

Summary: This study demonstrates the direct removal of methylene blue (MB) using peroxymonosulfate (PMS) as an advanced oxidation process. The efficiency of MB removal reached 76% within 180 minutes. Factors such as PMS dosage, temperature, and pH influenced the degradation of MB, while MB concentration showed no effect. The reaction rate constant of PMS with MB varied with pH, and PMS could catalyze chlorine degradation at high chloride concentration.
