Summary: Sulfonamides like sulfametoxydiazine (SMD) and sulfamonomethoxine (SMM) were found to bind to human serum albumin (HSA) through hydrogen bonding and van der Waals forces, with SMD showing stronger binding affinity than SMM. The interaction induced conformational changes in HSA, particularly affecting the alpha-helix content, and specific amino acid residues in HSA were identified as key players in the binding process of sulfonamides. Results suggest that hydrogen bonds play a crucial role in the binding affinity between sulfa drugs and HSA, with combined use of SMD and SMM leading to significant variations in binding constants.

Summary: Beauvericin, cyclopiazonic acid, and sterigmatocystin are emerging mycotoxins that can contaminate food and animal feed, resulting in economic losses and health risks. Human serum albumin can form stable complexes with these mycotoxins, influencing their toxicokinetics and potentially serving as a cost-effective affinity protein. This study investigated the interactions of these mycotoxins with human serum albumin using various techniques, revealing the formation of low to moderately strong complexes. The interactions of cyclopiazonic acid with site markers suggest potential toxicological importance.

Summary: SZV 1287 is a novel multi-target analgesic with promising potential for treating neuropathic pain. Studies have shown that SZV 1287 and its metabolites form stable complexes with albumin and exhibit activity in animal models. The interaction of SZV 1287 with albumin may play a crucial role in determining its pharmacokinetic properties.

Summary: The binding interaction between cannabidiol (CBD) and human serum albumin (HSA) was studied using surface plasmon resonance, fluorescence spectroscopy, UV-Visible spectrophotometry, and molecular docking. The results showed that CBD bound to HSA at one site in a spontaneous manner to form protein-CBD complexes, with the static mechanism playing a predominant role. The binding constants calculated from fluorescence studies indicated that the hydrophobic force was the major binding interaction. Confirmation of the interaction type and extent was provided using UV-spectroscopy and molecular docking studies.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction mechanism between ethoxyquin (EQ) and transporter protein before and after beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) encapsulation. The results showed that EQ formed complexes with bovine serum albumin (BSA) and affected its structure and environment. However, encapsulation in beta-CD reduced the binding ability of EQ to BSA and prevented adverse effects on BSA conformation.

Summary: The study investigated the interaction mechanism of isoorientin and its derivatives with human serum albumin (HSA) using various spectroscopic techniques, microscale thermophoresis, and computational studies. The results showed that the compounds bind to HSA through a static quenching process and enter site II via hydrophobic interaction. They induce structural changes in HSA.

Summary: In this study, the interaction between two widely used herbicides, aclonifen (ACF) and bifenox (BIF), and the major transporter in human circulation, human serum albumin (HSA), was investigated using fluorescence and absorption spectral measurements combined with in silico analyses. The results confirmed the complexation between ACF/BIF and HSA, and the quenching of HSA fluorescence by ACF/BIF was found to be temperature-dependent. Thermodynamic data and molecular docking results suggested the contribution of hydrophobic interactions in the ACF-HSA and BIF-HSA association processes.

Summary: The interaction between a DPP-4 inhibitor, alogliptin benzoate (AB), and human serum albumin (HSA) was systematically investigated through spectroscopy, microcalorimetry, and molecular simulations. The study revealed that the interaction was maintained by hydrogen bonding, van der Waals force, and hydrophobic force, enhancing the hydrophobicity and thermal stability of HSA.

Summary: The binding of lumefantrine to human serum albumin was investigated using various spectroscopic techniques and molecular docking. The results showed moderate binding affinity between lumefantrine and human serum albumin, with the formation of a stable complex. Changes in protein structure and stability upon lumefantrine binding were observed from the spectroscopic results. The preferred binding site of lumefantrine on human serum albumin was identified as Sudlow's Site I in subdomain IIA, supported by molecular docking analysis.

Summary: The study investigated the interactions of five silymarin components and their sulfate metabolites with human serum albumin and CYP enzymes. The results showed that each compound tested formed stable complexes with albumin, and certain components/metabolites could inhibit CYP enzymes, with 2,3-dehydrosilychristin-19-O-sulfate exhibiting the strongest inhibitory effect on CYP3A4. Hence, caution should be exercised when administering high doses of silymarin concurrently with medications, as interactions may interfere with drug therapy.
