Summary: This study examines the hysteresis phenomenon in DPPC monolayers, focusing on the impact of various variables on key indicators such as the pi-A isotherm curve and compression modulus. The findings reveal that these factors significantly influence the structural and dynamic properties of the monolayers, with the hysteresis loop providing valuable insights into their viscoelasticity and phase transition changes.

Summary: The use of deuterocarbons is an effective method in Raman spectroscopy for studying multicomponent lipid materials and biological samples. This study investigated the Raman spectra of hydrated multilamellar vesicles and mixtures of certain lipids to identify the indicators of conformational and lateral orders. The results showed that the intensity ratio of specific peaks can be used to evaluate the conformational order of the lipid chains, and the lateral order can enhance the effect of conformational ordering.

Summary: Injections of PEG-modified nanomedicines can result in an accelerated clearance, known as the accelerated blood clearance (ABC) phenomenon. Anti-PEG IgM plays a crucial role in inducing this phenomenon, but the addition of 1,2-distearoyl-snglycero-3-phosphoglycerol (DSPG) can inhibit the recognition and binding of anti-PEG IgM, thereby weakening the ABC phenomenon.

Summary: The influence of different surfactants (DTAB, TTAB, CTAB, SDS) on mixed DPPC/cholesterol layers was investigated. The study found that even tiny amounts of surfactants can significantly alter the zeta potential of cholesterol-containing liposomes, with a greater effect observed for anionic surfactants. The surfactant effect increased with increasing concentration and carbon chain length. Langmuir monolayer studies provided additional evidence of surfactant interactions with membrane lipids. The presence of cholesterol molecules favored the penetration of DTAB and SDS surfactants in DPPC layers.

Summary: Langmuir monolayers consisting of mixtures of 1-hexadecanol and 1,2-dipalmitoyl-3-trimethylammonium-propane were prepared to study the effect of surface charge density on the electric double layer structure. The presence of fatty alcohol molecules widened the distance between amine groups in the monolayer, altering the surface charge density. Sum-frequency vibrational spectroscopy revealed that the signal strength decreased as more 1-hexadecanol occupied the monolayer, indicating a saturation behavior consistent with Gouy-Chapman theory.

Summary: The study investigated the flip-flop movement using dithionite assay of NBD-PE fluorescence in vesicles with varying DMPC/DHPC ratios. Results showed that adding DHPC increased activation energy, but changes in thermodynamic functions did not exhibit a consistent trend, indicating DHPC promoted the flip-flop movement of NBD-PE.

Summary: The presented work describes the synthesis and characterization of a novel magnetic cationic phospholipid (MCP) system with a stable dopamine anchor as well as its transfection activity study. The synthesized architectural system increases the biocompatibility of iron oxide and promises applications of magnetic nanoparticles in living cells. The MCP system is soluble in organic solvents and can be easily adapted to prepare magnetic liposomes. We created complexes with liposomes containing MCP and other functional cationic lipids and pDNA as gene delivery tools, which possessed the ability to enhance the efficiency of transfection, particularly the process of interaction with cells by inducing a magnetic field. The MCP is able to create iron oxide nanoparticles and has the potential for the materials to prepare the system for site-specific gene delivery with the application of an external magnetic field.

Summary: Various thermosensitive liposome formulations have been described, and it remains unclear which is optimal for solid tumor treatment. Most liposomes achieve sufficient circulation half-life through polyethylene glycol surface modification, while DPPG(2) has been identified as a promising alternative. In vitro and in vivo studies suggest that higher mol% DPPG(2) increases Apolipoprotein E adsorption, decreases complement activation, and does not exhibit accelerated blood clearance, potentially offering advantages over PEG-TSL. Additionally, low complement activation for 20-30 mol% DPPG(2)-TSL presents a unique attribute for clinical evaluation.

Summary: Rationally designed heterostructures combining SnO2 and Nb2O5 exhibit high cycling stability and good rate performance in lithium-ion batteries. The Nb2O5 outer shell physically inhibits Sn atom migration and enhances reaction kinetics, while strong chemical interactions at the SnO2/Nb2O5 interfaces ensure stable encapsulation of the core.

Summary: The octanol-water partition coefficient of DPPC was studied using atomistic molecular dynamics simulations with different force fields and water models. The results showed that the OPC4 water model provided the best agreement with experimental data, emphasizing the need for improved water models that accurately estimate surface tension and non-bonded interactions. The study highlights the importance of reconciling experimental measurements and calculations in various scientific and industrial fields.

Summary: The study found that cholesterol has various effects on DMPC/Cholesterol monolayers, including fluidization, condensing, and increased stiffness at different concentrations. These effects are more pronounced in pure water at pH around 6.6 compared to buffer at physiological pH = 7.4. All mixtures were found to be thermodynamically stable at specific surface pressures in both pure water and buffer solutions. Additionally, the study compared the stability of these mixtures with a fatty acid monolayer, suggesting that double chain lipids may be better suited for cell membrane formation.

Summary: In this research, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were deposited on TiO2 using a natural flavonoid under neutral conditions to obtain antibacterial nanomaterials without cytotoxicity. The results showed that the deposition with dietary supplement is more efficient and safer, while the process carried out with reactive grade is inadequate. The nanomaterials synthesized with dietary supplements exhibited higher inhibition against bacteria and were non-toxic up to 100 ppm.
