Summary: This study aimed to verify the ability of different types of anthocyanins to cross the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier in sheep. The results showed that the penetration potential of chokeberry anthocyanins was higher than that of red cabbage anthocyanins, which could be largely attributed to the type and number of substituents as well as the size of the molecule.

Summary: The study found that anthocyanins could penetrate the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier in sheep after chokeberry administration, mainly in the form of methylated, glucuronidated, and sulfated derivatives in body fluids. The profile and concentration changes of chokeberry anthocyanins in cerebrospinal fluid were influenced by their fluctuations in blood plasma concentrations, as well as the chemical structure of various cyanidin derivatives present in the CSF.

Summary: A sensitive and robust LC-MS/MS method was developed and validated for the quantification of olverembatinib in human plasma and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The method involved liquid-liquid extraction and precipitation enrichment for plasma and CSF pretreatment, respectively. The detection was performed by electrospray ionization in a positive ion mode using multiple reaction monitoring. The method proved to be accurate and precise, with a successful application in measuring olverembatinib concentrations in plasma and CSF from chronic myeloid leukemia patients.

Summary: Neurocognitive decline remains prevalent in HIV infection despite antiretroviral therapy (ART), with a broad differential diagnosis including infectious and non-infectious causes. This case report describes a man with HIV on ART who presented with rapidly progressive dementia in Zambia. Initial empiric treatment was ineffective, leading to a re-evaluation and ultimately discovering the correct diagnosis. The case highlights the stepwise approach to diagnosis in a resource-limited setting with a high burden of HIV infection.

Summary: This study fills a critical knowledge gap regarding the ability of antituberculosis drugs to penetrate into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and provides valuable pharmacokinetic data for the treatment of tuberculosis meningitis (TBM). Linezolid and cycloserine showed moderate to high CSF penetration and may be effective drugs for TBM treatment, while the efficacy of bedaquiline, delamanid, and clofazimine remains uncertain due to their low CSF penetration.

Summary: In this study, it was found that catalpol can protect the NVU in ischemic stroke by activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and increasing VEGF production, which subsequently enhances angiogenesis and neurogenesis. This protective mechanism forms a feed-forward loop to safeguard the NVU from the effects of ischemic stroke.
