Summary: The median age at menarche among Chinese Han girls decreased from 13.37 years in 1985 to 12.00 years in 2019, but at a slowing pace in the last five years. Urban-rural disparities gradually narrowed. It is necessary to strengthen sexual and reproductive health education and interventions, especially in rural areas.

Summary: The study found that the mean age at menarche in the surveyed girls was 12.4 years, and there was a normal distribution of age at menarche. Girls who reached menarche were taller, heavier, and had higher BMIs, as well as larger waist and hip circumferences compared to pre-menarcheal girls. Additionally, girls from low socioeconomic status backgrounds experienced a delayed onset of menarche compared to those from middle/high SES backgrounds.

Summary: In this study, urban girls were found to experience menarche earlier than rural girls, and this urban-rural difference could not be explained by family income, parental education, weight status of the participants and their parents, participants' physical exercise, and sleeping hours. Higher parental education was associated with earlier onset of menarche, but this association disappeared after adjustment for living residence.

Summary: The study evaluated the trends in physical fitness of Chinese rural children and adolescents aged 7-18 from 1985 to 2019. Different aspects of fitness were measured during various time periods. The findings showed improvements in physical fitness from 1985-2000, followed by declines in some areas from 2000-2010. The period of 2010-2019 saw mixed trends, with some improvements and continued declines in certain aspects of fitness.

Summary: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between age at menarche and hypertension and to evaluate the effect of different dietary patterns on this relationship. The study found that women with a history of menarche later than 14 years old had an increased risk of hypertension, especially in the middle-aged group. Additionally, the positive association between age at menarche and hypertension was observed in the low DASH score group.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between dietary iron intake and age at menarche in Chilean girls. The results showed a nonlinear association between iron intake and age at menarche. Iron intake between 8 and 15 mg/d was associated with a lower probability of earlier menarche. However, the effect of iron intake above 15 mg/d on menarche timing was not clear, and the association was attenuated after adjusting for height and body weight.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between depression severity and pubertal development, as well as gonadal/adrenal hormones in girls with significant depressive symptoms. The findings suggest that age at menarche is important for adolescent depression, and it could be considered a prognostic factor for assessing the risk of depression in adolescents. Efforts should be made to address risk factors that contribute to an earlier age at menarche.

Summary: This study examined the association between fluoride exposure and reproductive health outcomes among adolescent girls and women in the United States. It found that increased water fluoride concentration was associated with earlier menarche, and there was a significant interaction between plasma fluoride and race/ethnicity in relation to age of menarche among Non-Hispanic Black adolescents. The potential impacts of chronic low-level fluoride exposure on reproductive health outcomes warrant further investigation.

Silencing Circ_0000826 promotes CRC cell proliferation, while overexpression of Circ_0000826 inhibits CRC cell proliferation. Furthermore, Circ_0000826 can bind to AUF1 and competitively inhibit its binding to c-MYC 30-UTR, leading to decreased c-MYC expression and cell proliferation.

Summary: In this paper, single-layer SiO2 sol-gel antireflection films pretreated by triple-frequency laser with different parameters are characterized by macroscopical parameters such as transmittance, refractive index, and thickness. The law of surface modification and the defect removal mechanism of the SiO2 sol-gel antireflection film by laser conditioning are obtained. It is found that laser conditioning can reduce the thickness of the film, introduce densification, and eliminate micro-defects, which is the main reason for improving the laser damage resistance of films.

Summary: This prospective cohort study aimed to investigate the impact of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) on the health-related quality of life (HRQL) of infants from NICU hospitalization to one year post-discharge. The study found that lower HRQL during NICU stay was associated with earlier gestational age, postnatal corticosteroid usage, outborn status, and gastrostomy tube placement. Lower HRQL at 3 and 12 months post-discharge was associated with readmissions, home oxygen use, parent-reported difficulty breathing, lower developmental scores, and not playing with other children. Most parents reported similar or improved HRQL after discharge, but parents of infants with respiratory symptoms experienced less improvement. Efforts to improve parent HRQL should focus on respiratory symptoms and social isolation.

Summary: This study aims to determine if children with elbow flexion contracture (EFC) caused by brachial plexus birth injury (BPBI) are more likely to develop shoulder contracture and undergo surgical treatment. A retrospective review was conducted on children under 2 years old with BPBI who presented to a single children's hospital. The results showed that patients with EFC had reduced shoulder range of motion and higher odds of shoulder contracture and surgical treatment. Prompt referral to a BPBI specialty clinic is recommended for evaluation and potential surgery.
