Summary: The current systematic and meta-analysis revealed that the pooled prevalence of HIV sero-status disclosure among women in East Africa was 73.77%. It was found that nearly one-fourth of women had not disclosed their HIV sero-status, and determinants of disclosure status included knowing partner's sero-status, being married, having a smooth relationship, and discussing HIV before testing.

Summary: This study aimed to predict the HIV status of individuals in Angola, Burundi, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe using four different algorithms. The gradient boosting trees algorithm performed the best in predicting HIV status. These findings are significant for developing high-yield HIV tests and precise strategies in low-resource settings.

Summary: This study investigated the anaemia profiles and nutritional status of HIV and helminth coinfected adult South Africans. The coinfected group had a lower anaemia prevalence compared to the HIV-infected group and a higher prevalence compared to the helminth infected group. Coinfected adults may be prone to micronutrient deficiency and anaemia.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study examined the symptom duration among COVID-19 patients who did not require hospitalization, with results showing that lower respiratory symptoms and neurological symptoms at disease onset were associated with prolonged symptom duration. The median symptom duration for outpatients was found to be 15 days, with over 25% of patients experiencing symptoms for longer than 21 days.

Summary: In CALHIV, the specificity of TB symptom screening is high, but the sensitivity is low. More accurate screening approaches are needed to optimally identify TB disease in CALHIV.

Summary: This study conducted in Burundi among 300 HIV-infected outpatients aged >=40 years found a LEAD prevalence of 17.3%, with factors associated with LEAD including hypertension and stage IV HIV clinical infection. This is the first large study in Central Africa reporting a high prevalence of LEAD among HIV patients, highlighting the influence of HIV on peripheral atherosclerosis at later clinical stages and the need for LEAD screening in this population.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the burden trends of thyroid cancer in North Africa and the Middle East from 1990 to 2019. The findings showed that thyroid cancer has a high incidence rate in this region, particularly among women, the elderly above 60, and countries with higher socioeconomic index. A high body mass index (BMI) was found to be a significant risk factor for thyroid cancer. The study recommends preventive measures such as lifestyle modifications, including weight reduction programs.

Summary: The study found that the majority of patients with advanced cancer use multiple adaptive coping strategies, while a minority use maladaptive or avoidant strategies. Female and college educated patients were more likely to use positive coping strategies. There was also a correlation between coping strategies and pain and depression.

Summary: Severe malarial anaemia cases are mostly present in the community rather than being hospitalized. The burden on public health depends on the severity of these cases. Strengthening the healthcare system and conducting research to understand the range of diseases associated with severe malarial anaemia cases in the community are crucial.

Summary: This study investigated the long-term symptom burden of COVID-19 survivors aged 60 years and above, 2 years after hospital discharge, and identified associated risk factors. Among 1,212 surveyed patients, 21.4% still reported at least one symptom, with fatigue, anxiety, and dyspnea being the most commonly reported symptoms. Older age and oxygen therapy were identified as risk factors for persistent symptoms.

Summary: Prevalence rates of cyberbullying victimization have increased in the general population, but its impact on clinical outpatient populations remains unclear. This study examined whether the increase in cyberbullying victimization is reflected in a clinical outpatient population and its contribution to psychological symptoms, while controlling for childhood maltreatment and offline peer victimization. The analysis of routine data from 827 outpatients seeking treatment at a university outpatient clinic showed that the reported cyberbullying victimization rate increased from 1% to 24% among patients born from 1980 to 2000. Logistic regression revealed that patients born from 1995 to 2002 were up to nineteen times more likely to report cyberbullying victimization compared to those born from 1980 to 1982. Additionally, cyberbullying victimization accounted for an incremental proportion of variance in the prediction of psychological symptom distress after controlling for other factors. Therefore, raising awareness and further research on cyberbullying in clinical care is justified and necessary.
