Summary: The long-term cephalometric stability of nonextraction Class II malocclusion treated with elastics or headgear was compared. The study included 43 patients divided into two groups: elastic group (EG) and headgear group (HG). The results showed that the HG group exhibited greater mandibular protrusion, occlusal plane angle decrease, and maxillary molar mesialization. However, long-term stability in overjet, overbite, and molar relationships was similar between the groups.

Summary: This retrospective investigation examined the efficiency and outcome quality of Class II:2 Herbst-Multibracket appliance (Herbst-MBA) treatment. The study found that Herbst-MBA treatment is an effective approach for Class II:2 malocclusions, with high-quality results and good short-term stability.

Summary: The aim of this study was to analyze the cephalometric effects of RME and EGA therapy in Class II growing patients. The results showed that this treatment protocol could have significant effects on the sagittal and vertical dimensions, but the lack of customization of functional therapy and the need for compliance by the patient were limitations.

Summary: The study found that extraction of mandibular second premolars enhances Class II molar correction, with greater mesial movement of the first molar and less distal movement of the incisors. There was no significant difference in vertical eruption of the maxillary and mandibular molars between the two extraction patterns.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcome quality of Class II:1 patients after Herbst-MBA treatment, finding a weak association between skeletal maturity and occlusal severity with treatment success. Therefore, when considering a Herbst appliance for Class II correction, neither skeletal maturity nor occlusal severity should significantly limit the indication.

Summary: This case report demonstrates the successful treatment of a 17-year-old female patient with Class II malocclusion using intraoral distalizers associated with skeletal anchorage. The treatment resulted in significant improvements in molar relationship and stability during a 2-year follow-up period. These findings suggest that the customized version of the skeletally anchored distalizer combined with fixed appliances is effective and stable in treating Class II malocclusion.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the effects of treatment with Herbst appliance and fixed therapy with elastics on the condyle and glenoid fossa complex. Results showed significant increases in condylar height and volume in the Herbst group, as well as anterior remodeling of the glenoid fossa. Herbst appliance treatment induced growth at the condylar head and anterior remodelling of the glenoid fossa, improving the maxilla-mandibular relationship in growing skeletal Class II patients.

Summary: The study evaluated the aesthetic perception of facial profiles before and after treatment with functional appliances, finding a greater improvement in treated patients compared to controls. Gender was observed to have a significant effect on observer ratings, and some observers showed inconsistent judgements, affecting the regression model. Early treatment with functional appliances appears to enhance patients' facial aesthetics, equally perceived by dental professionals and laypeople.

Summary: The effects of bi-maxillary skeletal anchorage devices (BMSADs) on the skeletal and dentoalveolar changes in class II malocclusion patients are inconsistent. However, there is limited evidence due to variability in biomechanics, anchorage types, and comparable groups among the included studies.

Summary: In this study, 36 Class II patients were divided into pre-pubertal and post-pubertal groups. They were treated with a metallic splint-supported Herbst IV appliance and scanned before and after treatment. Dental and skeletal measurements were analyzed. The results showed significant differences in horizontal skeletal parameters in the lower jaw, suggesting that Class II malocclusion treatment using Herbst appliance is more effective in the pre-pubertal stage than in the post-pubertal stage.

Summary: This study compared cephalometric changes in Class II Division 1 malocclusion patients treated with Twin-block (TB) and mandibular anterior repositioning appliance (MARA). Both appliances effectively improved the maxillomandibular relationship, but MARA resulted in more labial tipping and protrusion of the mandibular incisors compared to other groups. TB induced greater extrusion of the mandibular incisors and molars compared to MARA and control. Both treatments reduced overjet and overbite, while MARA showed a greater reduction in the molar relationship compared to other groups.

Summary: This research compared dentoskeletal changes produced by Herbst and Xbow appliances in Class II Division 1 malocclusion patients. Results showed the Herbst group had more mandibular size increase and mesial movement of mandibular molars. Both appliances achieved Class II correction through improving maxillomandibular relationship and labial inclination of mandibular incisors.

Summary: This study compared the treatment efficacy of two approaches for treating Class II division 1 malocclusion: functional appliance followed by fixed appliance treatment with extraction (two-phase) and fixed appliance treatment with extraction (one-phase). The results showed that two-phase treatment produced greater improvements in the intermaxillary relationship and facial convexity in patients requiring premolar extraction.

Summary: The study evaluated volumetric changes of the posterior airway space (PAS) following bimaxillary surgery using high oblique sagittal split osteotomy (HSSO) technique. Significant increase in total, middle, and inferior airway space was found for Class II patients, while the upper airway space increase was not significant. For Class III patients, the increase in upper airway space was significant, while the total, middle, and inferior airway space increase was not statistically significant.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the influence of fixed orthodontic appliances on the transfer accuracy of full-arch impressions obtained by five intraoral scanners. The results showed that intraoral scanners had higher transfer accuracy compared to conventional alginate impressions in the presence of brackets, even for long-span distances. However, significant differences were observed between the different intraoral scanners.
