Summary: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the marginal fit and internal adaptation of provisional crowns and fixed dental prostheses fabricated using 3D-printing resins compared to CAD/CAM milling and conventional resins. The findings concluded that provisional crowns and FDPs made from 3D-printing resins have superior marginal fit and internal adaptation compared to CAD/CAM-milled and conventional provisional resins.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of framework internal design changes on the mechanical properties of Co-Cr specimens manufactured by using DMLS. The results showed that decreasing the weight of the frameworks by changing the internal design decreased the peak strength, but did not affect the elastic modulus or percentage of elongation.

Summary: This study summarized the scientific evidence on the accuracy of distinct intraoral (IOS) and extraoral (EOS) scanners for image acquisition and the marginal/internal adaptation of indirect restorations. Most scanners showed clinically acceptable adaptation, with factors such as anti-reflection powders, image acquisition method, and restoration/tooth characteristics influencing scanner performance. The use of combined principles of image acquisition in scanners appeared to be promising. However, limited information is available regarding other factors such as cement space and restorative material, and more well-designed studies are needed.

Summary: This study compared the fit accuracy of three-unit implant-supported fixed partial dentures (I-FPDs) made from different materials and evaluated the effect of applying porcelain. The results showed that all three types of I-FPDs had clinically acceptable fit accuracy, with the soft millable Co-Cr alloy group having the best fit accuracy and the pre-sintered cobalt-chromium group having the worst fit accuracy.

Summary: The study compared the marginal and internal fit of 3-unit monolithic zirconia restorations designed using data from intraoral and laboratory scanners. Results showed intraoral scanners generally had better marginal and internal fit compared to laboratory scanners. PS scanner performed best in terms of margin and axial fit in premolar tooth, while D900L scanner showed the least consistent results in both margin and internal fit.

Summary: The study found that using bulk-fill flowable composite resin significantly reduces the magnitude of polymerization shrinkage stress. The larger the cavity and the volume of material needed to restore the tooth, the greater the residual stress on enamel and dentin tissue.

Summary: Through systematic search and evaluation of multiple studies, it was found that soft-milled cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) showed no significant difference in marginal accuracy compared to other methods/materials in tooth/implant-supported restorations. The marginal gap of soft-milled Co-Cr restorations is within the acceptable clinical range and provides similar accuracy to other available methods/materials for both implant abutment and tooth restorations.

Summary: This in vitro study evaluated the marginal and internal fits of ceramic crowns fabricated with different chairside CAD/CAM systems. The study found that all three systems were capable of fabricating clinically acceptable prostheses, with the marginal gap being the most important factor for the marginal fit of prostheses.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate and compare the marginal gap and internal fit of 3D printed and zirconia crowns using two different methods. The results showed that although milled crowns had better results, the 3D printed zirconia crowns also offered clinically acceptable results in terms of marginal adaptation and internal fit. Both vertical marginal gap technique and silicone replica technique are reliable methods for assessing the marginal gap.

Summary: This study evaluated the fit accuracy of machined monolithic PICN single crowns compared to lithium disilicate crowns, finding significant differences in marginal gaps and absolute marginal discrepancies between the two materials, with no significant impact of finish line configuration on crown adaptation. The marginal gap of PICN crowns was found to be below the clinically acceptable threshold.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the dimensional accuracy of onlays manufactured with different materials using the same CAD-CAM system. The results showed that composite resin and lithium disilicate glass-ceramic had satisfactory dimensional accuracy, while leucite glass-ceramic exhibited a lack of trueness due to consistent overmilling. The conclusion was that composite resin and lithium disilicate glass-ceramic materials had satisfactory dimensional accuracy.

Summary: The study evaluated the measurement error of 4 intraoral scanners and a laboratory scanner for digitizing root canal preparations. It also highlighted the impact of adjacent teeth on the quality of the digital model. The results showed significant differences among the scanners used, and the presence of adjacent teeth had a negative effect on the model quality for some scanners.
