Summary: A novel CASC18/miR-20a-3p/TGFB2 ceRNA axis was identified in OLNM of TSCC. Higher CASC18 expression was positively correlated with the presence of OLNM and worse outcome of TSCC patients, while knockdown of CASC18 inhibited cell migration and invasion.

Summary: In this study, machine learning models were developed and compared to predict occult cervical lymph node metastasis in early-stage oral tongue squamous cell cancer from preoperative MRI texture features. The results showed that machine learning-based MRI texture analysis offers a feasible tool for preoperative prediction of occult cervical node metastasis in early-stage OTSCC.

Summary: Tumor budding is found to be a reliable prognostic factor in oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC), but a standardized scoring system is lacking. This study aims to evaluate the prognostic role of tumor budding in 211 OTSCC patients. The results confirm the predictive value of tumor budding in disease-specific survival.

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility of whole-tumor histogram analysis of DWI and DCE MRI for predicting occult LNM in early-stage OTSCC. Results showed that ADC and wash-in histogram features were potential predictors of LNM, with the combined model yielding the best predictive performance.

Summary: This study aims to quantitatively predict the risk of occult contralateral lymph node metastasis in HSCC patients with ipsilateral lymph node metastasis, and construct two nomograms to guide treatment selection. Multivariate analyses identified several factors as independent risk factors for contralateral lymph node metastasis, and the nomograms provide guidance on the necessity of contralateral lymph node dissection and therapeutic radiation targeting. High-risk patients should receive contralateral lymph node dissection, while moderate-risk and low-risk patients require varying levels of follow-up and treatment.

Summary: ILVD and PLVD showed no significant association with occult lymph node metastasis or clinical follow-up, but ILVD was significantly associated with regional recurrence. PLVD was related to perineural invasion and had significant associations with disease-specific and disease-free survivals.

Summary: This study aimed to identify clinicopathological features related to cervical lymph node metastasis (CLNM) in tongue carcinomas. The results showed that clinical T2 stage, depth of invasion, tumor differentiation, and invasion pattern were significantly associated with CLNM. Close follow-up is recommended for high-risk tongue squamous cell carcinoma patients after partial glossectomy.

Summary: MET positivity is significantly associated with lymph node metastasis in early OTSCC and could potentially aid in decision making for elective neck dissection during the initial surgery. Further validation in larger patient cohorts is needed to confirm its added value in clinical practice.

Summary: The study investigated the role of MUC1 in CCR7-CCL21 axis-induced metastasis of tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC). Results showed that CCR7 and MUC1 may serve as potential biomarkers for TSCC treatment, as they are correlated with metastasis and survival rates in TSCC patients. CCL21 up-regulated MUC1 expression in TSCC cells, showing a positive correlation with migration and invasion capacities.

Summary: Tumor budding is associated with tumor size, tumor histologic differentiation, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, lympho-vascular invasion, and early recurrence of early gastric cancer. High-grade tumor budding, especially, can predict lymph node metastasis in early gastric cancer and may be an important parameter for evaluating the prognosis of patients with early gastric cancer.

Summary: This study explored the risk factors for lymph node metastasis (LNM) in patients with hypopharyngeal squamous carcinoma (HSCC) and developed nomograms for predicting survival outcomes and assessing individual risk. LNM was found to be a negative prognostic factor for overall survival and disease-specific survival. The nomograms outperformed the traditional staging system and provided individual prediction and risk classification.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of TSR and TB in OTSCC and establish a predictive model for the outcome of OTSCC patients. The results indicated that TSR was an independent risk factor for the prognosis of OTSCC patients and patients with stroma-rich had a worse long-term prognosis. The risk model combining TSR and TB showed valuable predictive power for the outcome of OTSCC patients.

Summary: LLN metastasis is an independent adverse prognostic factor in patients with OSCC, with a rate of 7.1%. Habitual alcohol consumption and clinical neck node metastasis are independent risk factors for LLN metastasis. LLN metastasis is an independent prognostic factor for disease-free and overall survival.
