Zygomatic Implants Placed in Immediate Function through Extra-Maxillary Surgical Technique and 45 to 60 Degrees Angulated Abutments for Full-Arch Rehabilitation of Extremely Atrophic Maxillae: Short-Term Outcome of a Retrospective Cohort

Armando Lopes, Miguel de Araujo Nobre, Ana Ferro, Carlos Moura Guedes, Ricardo Almeida, Mariana Nunes

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the short-term outcome of severely atrophic jaws rehabilitated with zygomatic implants in combination with standard implants, which showed high success rates and low rates of mechanical and biological complications.

The 10 Year Outcomes of Implants Inserted with Dehiscence or Fenestrations in the Rehabilitation of Completely Edentulous Jaws with the All-on-4 Concept

Miguel de Araujo Nobre, Armando Lopes, Elsa Antunes

Summary: This study investigated the outcomes of full-arch rehabilitations with the All-on-4 concept for implants inserted with dehiscence or fenestrations. The results showed that implants inserted with dehiscence or fenestrations demonstrated good long-term outcomes with high success and survival rates and low average marginal bone resorption, despite an inferior outcome in implants with fenestrations and the negative effect of smoking.

Multimorbidity Profile of COVID-19 Deaths in Portugal during 2020

Paulo Jorge Nogueira, Miguel de Araujo Nobre, Cecilia Elias, Rodrigo Feteira-Santos, Antonio C- Martinho, Catarina Camarinha, Leonor Bacelar-Nicolau, Andreia Silva Costa, Cristina Furtado, Liliane Morais, Juan Rachadell, Mario Pereira Pinto, Fausto Pinto, Anto Vaz Carneiro

Summary: This study aimed to describe the morbidity profile of COVID-19 deaths in Portugal during 2020, finding that deaths primarily occurred in individuals aged 80 years or older, with a slightly higher mortality rate in males. The study observed high levels of comorbidities, with varying prevalence rates of zero morbidity and high multimorbidity throughout the year, especially during peak mortality waves.

Improving morbidity information in Portugal: Evidence from data linkage of COVID-19 cases surveillance and mortality systems

Rodrigo Feteira-Santos, Catarina Camarinha, Miguel de Araujo Nobre, Cecilia Elias, Leonor Bacelar-Nicolau, Andreia Silva Costa, Cristina Furtado, Paulo Jorge Nogueira

Summary: This study compares morbidity information between two databases used to monitor COVID-19 cases and related deaths in Portugal, and identifies differences in the reported data. The results highlight the potential of improving the interoperability of these databases to enhance available health information systems and decision-making in managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Long-Term Outcome of Dental Implants in Immediate Function Inserted on Autogenous Grafted Bone

Miguel de Araujo Nobre, Francisco Salvado, Joao Andre Correia, Maria Cristina Faria Teixeira, Francisco Azevedo Coutinho

Summary: This retrospective study aimed to investigate the outcome of full-arch rehabilitations supported by implants in grafted bone. The results showed a dental implant cumulative success rate of 88.1% at 14 years and a patient survival rate of 76.8%. The incidence of biological and mechanical complications were 36% and 86.1% respectively. Overall, this treatment alternative is valid despite the rate of implant failures and complications.

Miguel de Araujo Nobre, Carlos Moura Guedes, Ricardo Almeida, Antonio Silva, Nuno Sereno

Summary: This study demonstrates that PEEK-acrylic resin implant-supported full-arch prostheses have high prosthetic and implant survival rates, low marginal bone loss, and low rates of biological and prosthetic complications.

Outcomes of Fixed Full-Arch Rehabilitations Supported by Tilted and Axially Placed Implants: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Massimo Del Fabbro, Alessandro Pozzi, Davide Romeo, Miguel de Araujo Nobre, Enrico Agliardi

Summary: The performance of fixed complete dental prostheses supported by axial and tilted implants after at least 3 years of follow-up was evaluated. The results showed that tilted implants had lower marginal bone loss compared to axial implants, regardless of the maxillary or mandibular position. This surgical approach represents a predictable option for the rehabilitation of edentulous arches.
