Summary: This study aimed to assess the presentation of risk information in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) obstetrical Practice Bulletins. The results showed that most recommendations did not provide numeric risk information, and among those that did, absolute risk measures were not commonly used. The study suggests that obstetrical practice guidelines should aim to provide numerical risk information whenever possible to improve risk comprehension.

Summary: This study provides a comprehensive assessment of currently available guidelines for the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) during pregnancy, intrapartum, and postnatal periods. The study identifies the focus and scope of recommendations in these guidelines, highlighting the importance of antenatal care interventions, postnatal assessments, and health system recommendations. The findings suggest the need for holistic guidelines that integrate NCD care throughout the maternal health services, with a specific focus on resource-limited contexts.

Summary: This study aimed to identify low-value clinical practices in injury care, assess their frequencies, and evaluate interhospital variations using trauma registry data. Results showed poor adherence to CPG recommendations for low-value CT imaging and high practice variation for decompressive craniectomy. However, adherence to recommendations for other low-value practices was high, indicating potential for interventions targeting reductions in healthcare overuse in this population.

Summary: Transgender and gender diverse (TGD) individuals face health disparities and often avoid necessary medical care due to fears of discrimination or mistreatment. The medical community's limited understanding of gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) and gender-affirming surgery further exacerbates disparate care. Specifically in radiology, TGD patients report more negative imaging experiences compared to general health encounters, indicating a need for inclusive imaging care practices. This article highlights opportunities for improvement in radiology departments, including staff education, welcoming environments, trauma-informed care, and appropriate reporting considerations for TGD patients.

Summary: This study proposes a FHIR-based format that uses computer-interpretable representations of knowledge artifacts to directly generate evidence-based recommendations. An information model and corresponding representation based on FHIR resources were developed, allowing for the transparent evaluation of evidence and the facilitation of computer-interpretable guideline recommendations.

Summary: The clinical practice guidelines for managing adults with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11.2DS) were updated through a stepwise process involving expert clinicians worldwide. The recommendations were formulated based on systematic literature review, clinical expert synthesis, and patient advocate survey results. The limited evidence base necessitates multidisciplinary recommendations as the current best practice in this evolving field.

Summary: In recent years, there have been few studies focusing on the use and abuse of Benzodiazepines (BZDs) in sports. This article presents two clinical cases of elite endurance athletes who started using BZDs to address insomnia, recover faster, and manage muscle pain, highlighting that their sports doctors were unaware of the addictive properties of these drugs and failed to gradually reduce the dosage. The article aims to provide guidelines specifically for sports medicine physicians to manage situations involving BZD prescription, addiction recognition, and intervention strategies.

Summary: This study compared the risk of spontaneous preterm birth (SPTB) before 35 weeks in symptomatic and asymptomatic women with cervical shortening at 16-34 weeks under mid-trimester universal screening of cervical length (CL). The results showed that the presence of uterine contractions at admission may not be an independent risk factor for the occurrence of SPTB before 35 weeks, while CL of 1-9 mm, CL of 10-14 mm, and vaginal bleeding at admission were identified as independent risk factors for SPTB before 35 weeks.

Summary: This is a case report on ovarian vein thrombosis (OVT) after adnexectomy leading to pulmonary embolism (PE). The patient, a woman with early stage endometrial cancer, developed a fever and bilateral OVT was detected on CT scan 12 days after surgery. Anticoagulant and antibacterial therapy was started and the fever subsided, but PE was observed on day 19. PE resolved by day 60. This case highlights the possibility of symptomatic OVT and subsequent PE after adnexectomy and suggests the consideration of anticoagulation therapy.
