Summary: Despite significant progress made by nutrition actors in generating commitment for a sugar-sweetened beverage tax in Australia, political commitment remains low due to powerful influence of industry, opposition from major political parties, ideological resistance to regulation, poor monitoring system, and limited public advocacy. Opportunities for increasing political commitment include limiting industry influence in policy-making and strengthening the pro-tax coalition.

Summary: Little research has been conducted on the perceptions of school nutrition professionals and youth regarding existing school nutrition marketing materials. Findings from a two-phased approach revealed that professionals found the materials easy to understand but lacked motivational appeal and influence on fruit/vegetable consumption. Youth participants discussed their preferences, comprehension, and social and health aspects of the materials. The study highlights the need for greater investment and research to enhance the appeal and impact of nutrition marketing materials in schools.

Summary: Global trade has had a long-term impact on food systems, and modern trade agreements are accelerating and complicating these changes, affecting public health and nutrition transition. This study examined the influence of the 2018 Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) on the policy space for public health nutrition in Vietnam, identifying tensions between Vietnamese policies and CPTPP sections. Different policy actors hold varying beliefs and interests on these issues, requiring more regular and constructive interaction to find solutions.

Summary: Through a randomized controlled trial in schools in Odisha, India, it was found that high intensity monitoring can improve the implementation of the government's iron and folic acid supplementation program, while a new nutrition intervention may crowd out the implementation of this program. Schools with limited resources or capacity are more susceptible to being crowded out by new interventions.

Summary: This narrative review summarizes existing literature on the effectiveness of school-based interventions in Europe to promote healthy lifestyle behaviors in children aged 6-10 years. The results indicate that diet and physical activity interventions have positive effects on various health outcomes, including anthropometric parameters, biomarkers, eating behavior, and self-efficacy. Diet-only interventions specifically impact eating habits, particularly water consumption. Successful interventions usually last for one school year and involve parental involvement and teachers' training.

Summary: City-to-city learning processes play an important role in building better urban food systems, but they face challenges in terms of stakeholder involvement, the political and social contexts of each city, and information availability. This paper examines the travel of ideas between Quito and Lima in their urban food systems, finding that stakeholders perceive city-to-city learning as important but still need to overcome obstacles such as the COVID-19 pandemic and specific challenges. The success of the ongoing process between Quito and Lima depends on institutional maturity, social and political environment, resources, and the willingness of local authorities to work on this topic.
