Summary: This study conducted in Israeli adolescents aged 11-18 years identified five major dietary patterns, with a focus on a 'plant-based' pattern associated with healthy lifestyle and a 'junk food' pattern associated with unhealthy lifestyle. The results highlight significant correlations between lifestyle risk behaviors and suboptimal growth among adolescents.

Summary: This study explores the factors associated with dietary patterns in Colombia using secondary data from the National Survey of Nutritional Status of Colombia. The findings indicate that cultural, social, economic, and biological factors influence food choices. Individuals with diabetes and hypertension tend to have traditional and conservative dietary patterns, while women are more likely to follow a conservative pattern and those in the first and second wealth levels are more likely to follow a traditional pattern.

Summary: The study found that dietary patterns established early in life tracked into late childhood and were associated with cardiometabolic markers. The Core(DP) dietary pattern was inversely related to systolic blood pressure and insulin resistance, the Protein(DP) pattern was directly related to insulin resistance and systolic blood pressure, and adherence to the F&S-DP pattern was directly associated with triglycerides and systolic blood pressure.

Summary: Objective Nutrition plays a role in the development of Crohn's disease [CD] and ulcerative colitis [UC]. The study found that a Western dietary pattern was associated with a greater likelihood of CD development, while a carnivorous pattern was associated with UC development. Additionally, a higher diet quality score was protective against CD development.

Summary: The impact of habitual diet on chronic diseases in South America, specifically Uruguay, has not been extensively studied. This study aimed to identify major dietary patterns in adults and assess their associations with various health parameters. Three major dietary patterns (Meat, Prudent, Cereal and Mate) were identified, each associated with different health outcomes such as blood lipid profile, vitamin D deficiency, and excessive body weight. No direct associations with hypertension, arterial stiffness, chronic kidney disease, and nephrolithiasis were found in the studied population.

Summary: This study examined dietary patterns among Chinese lactating women and their associations with human milk macronutrient composition. Four dietary patterns were identified, with high proportions of animal and plant-based foods associated with higher fat and lower protein concentrations in colostrum, while different associations were found in mature milk.

Summary: This narrative review summarizes the findings of observational studies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses on the role of nutrients and dietary patterns in pancreatic cancer (PC) risk. The consumption of a diet high in nutrients such as sugar, fats, and red and processed meats can increase the risk of PC, while a high intake of fresh fruit and vegetables and their associated nutrients may prevent PC. Dietary patterns loaded with red and processed meats are linked to an increased risk of PC, whereas patterns rich in plant-based foods are associated with a reduced risk. Dietary fiber, fat-soluble vitamins, water-soluble vitamins, and minerals might play a protective role against PC.

Summary: The study revealed correlations between dietary patterns and microbial clusters, as well as associations between individual foods and nutrients with bacterial species and metabolic pathways. Processed and animal-derived foods were linked to certain bacteria and endotoxin synthesis pathways, while plant foods and fish were associated with different bacteria and pathways related to nutrient metabolism. These findings provide insights into how diet affects gut inflammation and suggest directions for future intervention studies.
