Summary: Pt/SrTiO3(STO)/LaNiO3(LNO) and Pt/STO/Pt structures were fabricated on Si substrates using sol-gel method. Dielectric tunability characteristics of these two structures are investigated over temperature range of 300-80 K. STO prepared on LNO exhibits better crystallinity and dielectric tunability than that prepared on Pt. Furthermore, LNO/STO/LNO structure exhibits similar tunability, lower tan delta, higher figure-of-merit (FOM) values, and better tunability symmetry compared with Pt/STO/LNO structure, demonstrating the better performance of LNO electrode than conventional inert metal electrodes.

Summary: In this study, barium titanate powders were synthesized using sol-gel and sol-precipitation methods. The microstructural and dielectric properties of the samples prepared by both methods were compared. The sol-gel derived samples exhibited an increase in the tetragonal phase and dielectric constant with increasing temperatures, while the sol-precipitation derived sample was cubic. The presence of BaCO3 was more evident in the sol-precipitation derived sample, and the band gap of the products did not show significant variation with the synthesis method.

Summary: Multiferroic BiFeO3 particles with size of about 50 nm and good crystallinity were prepared via a simple sol-gel method and annealing. The VOCs sensing properties of BiFeO3 sensor were tested under both traditional thermal excitation and synergetic thermal-magnetic excitation, and the results showed improved performance under the latter condition. The effect of magnetic field on the sensor can be attributed to decreased defects on domain walls, excitation of gas molecules, and activation of surface-absorbed oxygen species.

Summary: SrTiO3 thin films were fabricated on glass substrates using the in-situ sol-gel-hydrothermal method. The TiO2 layer was initially deposited using the sol-gel method, followed by the diffusion of Sr2+ ions in the TiO2 layer to obtain SrTiO3 via the hydrothermal method. The prepared SrTiO3 thin films exhibited a polycrystalline perovskite structure with different surface morphologies, and the optical properties were found to be dependent on the thickness of the films.

Summary: Mixed metal oxides with different iron content (x = 0.2-1.0) were synthesized using sol-gel auto combustion process. The properties of the oxide materials were characterized using various techniques. The results showed that the replacement of aluminium ions affected the structure, bandgap, and crystallite size of the mixed metal oxides. The iron-substituted aluminate gas sensors exhibited good performance in detecting gases such as CO, H2S, and NO2.

Summary: The control of grain orientation and enhancement of piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties in thin films were achieved by introducing Nb-doped SrTiO3 single crystalline substrates. Consequently, Nb-doped SrTiO3 substrates facilitated the growth of oriented thin films with larger piezoelectric coefficient, energy storage density, and efficiency, promising broad application prospects.

Summary: Room-temperature-operated sensitive NO2 sensors were developed using a sol-gel thin-film device with a vertical channel structure, demonstrating unique sensing modulation characteristics. By adjusting the film composition, the level of hydroxyl group was identified as the dominant factor influencing sensitivity. The sensors exhibited good selectivity, repeatability, and shelf lifetime.

Summary: In this study, lead-free 0.8STO-0.2BFO thin films with coexisting amorphous and nanocrystalline structure were prepared by a sol-gel method. By adjusting the heat-treatment temperature to form polar-nano regions, the energy storage density of the films was increased. The optimized 0.8STO-0.2BFO film exhibited excellent energy storage properties with high discharge energy storage density, temperature and frequency stability, as well as fatigue endurance.

Summary: Magnesium zirconate titanate (MZT) thin films prepared using a sol-gel spin-coating method exhibit high sensitivity and repeatability as gas sensors, particularly for detecting NO2. The sensitivity of the MZT thin film to NO2 gas molecules at a working temperature of 150 degrees C was found to be 8.64% for 0.25 ppm and 34.22% for 5 ppm, indicating its potential for gas sensing applications.

Summary: Nanopowders of Bax-0.003La0.003TiO3 were synthesized using the sol-gel method. Abnormal grain growth was observed in the Ba-excessive composition at a low sintering temperature, contrary to previous reports. The presence of BaCO3 in the powder was confirmed to be responsible for the abnormal grain growth.

Summary: Lead-free 0.7BiFe(1-2x)Zn(x)Mn(x)O(3)-0.3BaTiO(3) (BFZMx-BT) piezoceramics were prepared via sol-gel method and two-step sintering process. The addition of Zn and Mn ions significantly modified the microstructure, resulting in enhanced Curie temperature, dielectric properties, and polarization magnitude. The codoping of (Zn, Mn) in BF-BT induced improved performance in terms of remnant polarization, leakage current, Curie temperature, piezoelectric constant, strain response, and piezoelectric actuator constant.

Summary: By assembling TiO2 nanoparticles decorated with polyoxometalate (POM) and organic dye molecules, we have achieved accelerated room-temperature sensing of NO2 gas under visible light illumination. This method improves the sensitivity and response/recovery time of the gas sensors, while maintaining high selectivity and relatively low detection concentration.

Summary: Based on hafnium-added indium zinc oxide (Hf-IZO), a nitrogen dioxide (NO2) gas sensor was produced and showed high response and selectivity to NO2 gas, as well as long-term stability. The sensing performance of the 15 at% Hf-IZO sensor is linked to the concentration of oxygen vacancies generated by the hafnium doping.

Summary: MoOx serves as a buffer and hole transport layer in perovskite solar cells, suppressing defects and improving device functionality. The deposition of MoOx directly onto the perovskite leads to a loss in device functionality due to the inversion of photoinduced charge migration behaviors. The addition of MoOx results in lower J-V hysteresis, higher electrical conductivity, and more stable PCE values, with devices retaining over 85% of their initial efficiency.
