Summary: Automatic identification and data collection technologies, such as barcodes and RFID, play a crucial role in Industry 4.0 Smart Manufacturing. A systematic literature review reveals that RFID technology has technological superiority over barcodes in industrial applications. However, challenges such as high capital costs and technical complexity need to be addressed. The application of the TOE framework complements the implementation of RFID systems and improves competitiveness and efficiency in asset and inventory tracking.
