Summary: Pre-eclampsia is a severe complication in pregnancy with limited diagnostic and therapeutic options, and there is controversy surrounding its etiology and phenotypes. Using multiphoton microscopy (MPM) imaging, the native placental three-dimensional morphology can be visualized with subcellular resolution, allowing for the identification of various imaging targets such as trophoblast organization, villous tree structure, syncytial knots, fibrosis, and vascular networks. Preliminary data suggests that pre-eclampsia is characterized by increased syncytial knot density, paddle-like villous sprouts, abnormal villous volume-to-surface ratio, and decreased vascular density. Quantifying 3D microscopic images shows potential for phenotyping pre-eclampsia in placental villous tissue.

Summary: The feasibility of using ductus venosus Doppler (DVD) to time delivery in early-onset fetal growth restriction (FGR) and pre-eclampsia was assessed in this study. The results showed that abnormal DVD was associated with increased perinatal morbidity and mortality, as well as increased risk of placental abruption.

Summary: This study evaluated the utility of 4D Power Doppler tissue evaluation in distinguishing between normal ovaries and ovarian cancer tumors, revealing statistical differences in 4D bi-directional Power Doppler vascular indices between malignant tumors and normal ovaries. These findings may support the rationale for future studies exploring the technology's potential to discriminate between malignant and benign tumors.

Summary: In this study, a rabbit model of rheumatoid arthritis was used to examine changes in synovial neovascularization over time using quantitative power Doppler ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound. The findings suggest that combining power Doppler image grade, CEUS grade, and peak intensity data with CD31 expression accurately characterizes the extent of synovial vascularization in RA. Increased vascularity based on CEUS may have value for the early diagnosis of RA.

Summary: This study investigates the diagnostic value of Angio Planewave Ultrasensitive Doppler ultrasound in improving the efficacy of grey scale ultrasound in thyroid nodule diagnosis. The results show that the combination of qualitative vascularity assessment with AngioPLUS and power Doppler imaging significantly improves specificity in stratifying thyroid nodules, particularly cytologically-equivocal nodules. The findings suggest that AngioPLUS Doppler ultrasound has a potential to enhance the diagnostic accuracy for thyroid nodules.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the potential value of ophthalmic artery Doppler at 11-13 weeks' gestation as a predictive marker for pre-eclampsia (PE) and compare it with other first-trimester biomarkers. The results showed that ophthalmic artery PSV ratio may be helpful in predicting the development of preterm PE. However, larger studies are still needed to validate this finding.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in three-dimensional choroidal thickness, choroidal vessel volume, and choroidal vessel index in young myopic adults using swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA). The results showed that these indicators gradually decreased as the degree of myopia increased. The changes were more significant in the nasal quadrant of the macula and the temporal and inferior quadrants of the optic disc.

Summary: This study used three-dimensional choroidal vascularity index (CVI) to describe the topographic variation of macular choroidal angioarchitecture in healthy eyes from an Asian population. The results showed that CVI was not correlated with demographic or ocular structural features, and 2D CVI of the fovea partially represented 3D CVI of the macula.

Summary: This study explores the application value of three-dimensional power Doppler ultrasound (3D-PDU) in fetal growth restriction (FGR). The results show that 3D-PDU can assess the blood perfusion of the fetus and placenta, and has potential in the early diagnosis of FGR.

Summary: The study showed that the ophthalmic artery PSV ratio at 19-23 weeks' gestation could be used to predict the development of PE, especially preterm PE. Combining the PSV ratio with other biomarkers improved the accuracy of predicting PE, but larger studies are needed to validate these findings.

Summary: In this study, a new method is proposed to reconstruct 3D sample distribution from a single 2D intensity measurement, exceeding the classical limit in z resolution. This method is practical for radiation-sensitive materials or experimental setups with constraints on the number of intensity measurements.

Summary: The study aims to investigate the impact of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) on cancer-specific mortality in women with common cancers, as well as the risks of second cancers, cardiovascular disease, venous thromboembolism, and all-cause mortality. The findings will provide valuable evidence for guiding women diagnosed with cancer on the safe use of HRT and may lead to modifications in clinical practice.
