Summary: This study explores the use of autologous and cadaveric grafts in rhinoplasty and related factors. The survey results show that while doctors commonly use autologous cartilage, many also use cadaveric rib cartilage. The main factors associated with the use of cadaveric grafts include patient comorbidities, surgery volume, concerns about complications, and cost.

Summary: This study presents Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI) on two different scaffolds, Chondro-Gide made of collagen type I/III and a polyethersulfone (PES) synthetic membrane, for the treatment of lesions in hyaline cartilage in rabbits. The use of PES membranes with desirable features for chondrocyte cultivation is the revolutionary idea in this study.

Summary: This study compares the performance of two different configurations of thermosyphon systems for compensating for the absence of solar energy during nights or cloudy days through backup energy sources. Experimental results show that the parallel configuration is able to compensate for solar absence 47% quicker, on average, compared to the serial configuration during solar intermittence tests.

Summary: Focal chondral defects of the knee are common in young, active individuals, and cell-seeded scaffolds have shown promising results in repairing these defects. Most patients achieved complete integration with native cartilage using cell-seeded scaffolds, and the integration quality improved over time.

Summary: In this study, the effects of cartilage progenitor cells (CPCs), bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), and chondrocytes (CCs) on cartilage repair were investigated. The results showed that CPCs had higher proliferation ability compared to CCs and BMSCs. Moreover, CPCs seeded in agarose gel exhibited significantly higher levels of collagen, glycosaminoglycan, DNA content, and chondrocyte-related gene expression. Integration strength in the CPCs seeded gel was also higher than the other two gels. These findings suggest that CPCs have advantages over CCs and BMSCs as seed cells in tissue engineering for cartilage repair.

Summary: In this study, the post-transplantation changes in auricular cartilage and costal cartilage were explored through histologic staining. The density of costal chondrocytes decreased first and then increased, while the secretion of type II collagen and extracellular matrix slightly decreased over time. Auricular cartilage showed decreased integrity, local fibrosis, and vascular ingrowth, while costal cartilage was more stable after transplantation.

Summary: A new hybrid system, PVT-TE, has been proposed to enhance the conversion efficiency of PV cells. Experimental results show that the PVT-TE system outperforms the conventional PVT system in both thermal and electrical performance. This study provides the basis for further optimization of hybrid systems.

Summary: This study developed a hybrid scaffold for cartilage tissue construct using Platelet rich plasma (PRP)/Sodium Alginate (SA) based hydrogel embedded in a porous 3D scaffold of chitosan (CH)/chondroitin sulfate (CS)/silk fibroin (SF). The hybrid scaffold demonstrated suitable pore size, porosity, and compressive strength for cartilage tissue construct generation. In-vivo animal study confirmed the superior potential of the scaffold for cartilage tissue regeneration.
