Summary: In order to address the issues of insufficient osseointegration and implant-associated infections in Ti-based implants, scientists have developed a new biomimetic micro/nanoscale topography coating combined with antibacterial copper. This coating promotes cellular adhesion, spreading, and proliferation, while also reducing the viability of oral pathogens. These findings have valuable implications for orthopedic and dental implant applications.

Summary: The study uses an asymptotic curve fitting method to analyze bone anchorage and finds that implant surface topography has a significant impact on the initial stage of osseointegration but not on the relative anchorage change during bone remodeling. Threaded implants significantly reduce the time required to reach peak anchorage, while implants with micro-topographically complex surfaces require greater torque to be removed.

Summary: Strontium plays a vital role in bone regeneration by promoting the differentiation and maturation of osteoblasts and inhibiting the activity of osteoclasts. This study focused on developing new organic-inorganic hybrid sol-gel coatings with strontium doping applied to titanium discs. In vitro tests and proteomics analysis confirmed the osteogenic, anti-inflammatory, and increased protein adhesion properties of the coatings. These findings highlight the potential of proteomic methods in developing biomaterials and predicting the biocompatibility of dental implants.

Summary: Current research on dental implants has focused on the influence of surface roughness on osseointegration rate, while studies on developing surfaces to improve interaction with peri-implant soft tissues are lacking. This study showed that implant discs with Ti-S surfaces promoted adhesion and proliferation of gingival fibroblasts in vitro, suggesting their potential for in vivo applications. Further research is needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: The study focuses on investigating the biological and electrochemical behavior of TiO2 nanotubes-modified surfaces, revealing that the transition from amorphous to crystalline structures significantly enhances biological activity and corrosion resistance. The outstanding bioactivity of crystallized nano-structures is attributed to the increase in hydrophilicity, while enhanced electrochemical stability is due to the thickening of the ruble barrier layer beneath the nanotubes.

Summary: With increasing life expectancy, the prevalence of osteoporosis has risen, leading to a search for strategies to regenerate bone tissue. The sonochemical technique was used to functionalize bioglass, resulting in modified surface characteristics. In vitro tests showed favorable cell adhesion and differentiation, with no cytotoxicity observed. Animals treated with teriparatide demonstrated new bone formation, indicating positive effects on bone tissue. Further studies are required to investigate the long-term effects of the interaction between bioglass and teriparatide.

Summary: In this study, a next-generation bone regeneration material was developed by combining polycaprolactone fibers, carbon nanotubes, and hydroxyapatite nanoparticles. Rotary jet spinning fibers showed the best outcomes in repairing rat calvarial defects, and their rough topography allowed for better cellular growth and spreading. Incorporating nanoparticles and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells enhanced cell performance and resulted in greater bone neoformation.
