Spinel Co1-xMnxFe2O4 nanoparticles were prepared by the sol-gel combustion technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and vibration sample magnetometer (VSM) studies have been carried out in order to understand the temperature dependence of their properties. It is observed that the high concentration of Mn2+ substituted into CoFe2O4 tends to reduce the particle size. Furthermore, the influence of Mn on the magnetic and thermal characteristics of Co1-xMnxFe2O4 nanoparticles has been investigated in detail. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
