A novel efficient (Phi = 0.44) organic yellow-emitting dye, 3-(4-(diphenylamino)phenyl)-1 -phenylprop-2-en-1-one (DPPO), was synthesized. The compound was characterized by means of H-1 NMR and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and analyzed by quantum chemistry method. It was found that DPPO could be effectively excited by the InGaN-based blue LED. Photo-durability data of DPPO were studied. Bright white light of Commission international del' Eclairage (CIE) x = 0.30, y = 0.33 was obtained by using DPPO as a light color-conversion material (CCM). (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V.
