Summary: In this study, we investigated the correlation between urinary 6β-OHC/C ratio and liver function, as well as the effects of CYP3A4*22 and CYP3A5*3 polymorphisms on liver failure in patients with obstructive jaundice. Our results showed that 6β-OHC concentration and 6β-OHC/cortisol ratio can serve as significant predictors of liver failure in patients with moderate and severe obstructive jaundice. Additionally, we found that the CC genotype of CYP3A4*22 and the GA genotype of CYP3A5*3 polymorphism may be associated with liver failure.

Summary: The imbalance between pro-inflammatory Th17 and anti-inflammatory Treg cells plays a crucial role in the development and progression of inflammation in COPD. Studies evaluating treatments targeting Th17/Treg cells have shown conflicting results, which vary based on lung compartments, COPD stages, or local and systemic markers. Careful examination of the data is necessary.

Summary: The prognostic value and functional involvement of tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) were evaluated. The study found that the spatial distribution and abundance of TLSs significantly correlated with prognosis and provided a useful immune classification for iCCA. T follicular helper and regulatory T cells were identified as critical factors in determining the functional orientation of spatially different TLSs.

Summary: Cholestatic jaundice with elevated conjugated bilirubin can have various causes in neonates and children. In neonates, common causes include extrahepatic biliary atresia, choledochal cyst, neonatal hepatitis, cytomegalovirus infection, and biliary plug. In late infancy and childhood, viral hepatitis, choledochal cyst, cholelithiasis, worm infestation, and biliary compression due to external causes are common. Early diagnosis is important for treatable causes, and modern diagnostic modalities can aid in rapid diagnosis and surgical treatment.

Summary: Hypertension, affecting over a billion adults globally, is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Recent studies have shown that the microbiota and its metabolites play a role in regulating hypertension pathophysiology. In this study, decreased levels of indole propionic acid (IPA), a tryptophan metabolite, were found in mice with hypertension induced by L-arginine methyl ester hydrochloride (L-NAME) and high salt diet (LSHTN). Supplementation of IPA resulted in decreased blood pressure and improved sodium handling, suggesting IPA as a potential therapeutic option for hypertension.

Summary: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a major contributor to global mortality, with three million deaths reported annually. The impact is expected to increase, with approximately five million people predicted to die from COPD-related causes each year in the next 40 years. The immune mechanisms driving disease progression, as well as the relationship between airway microbiome changes and immune activation, remain unclear.

Summary: In this study, it was discovered that circRNA has_circ_0069313 is upregulated in oral squamous cancer cells (OSCC) and is associated with poor prognosis. The mechanism of has_circ_0069313's function involves inhibiting miR-325-3p-induced degradation of Foxp3, resulting in immunity escape. Furthermore, has_circ_0069313 acts as an exosomal circRNA and promotes the function of Treg cells by maintaining Foxp3 levels.

Summary: This study investigates the expression of specific cells in the tumor microenvironment of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and their relationship with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis. The results suggest that infiltration of Treg cells, CD8+ T cells, and macrophages is associated with ICC relapse. High ratio of FoxP3(+) Treg cells in the tumor tissue predicts longer relapse-free survival (RFS) and serves as an independent favorable prognostic factor for ICC patients. Among Treg cell subtypes, TregIII in peripheral blood is correlated with RFS of ICC patients.

Summary: This study compared the surgical treatment outcomes and changes in biomarkers between patients with benign and malignant obstructive jaundice who received antioxidant pharmacotherapy and those who did not. The results showed that antioxidant pharmacotherapy improved treatment outcomes, reduced the incidence of complications, and shortened hospital stay.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effect of AKG on gut immunity in LPS-challenged piglets by modulating the Th17/Treg immune response signaling pathway. The results showed that dietary AKG supplementation improved growth performance, enhanced ileal morphological structure, and regulated the expression of various immune factors, thereby alleviating LPS-induced intestinal inflammation. Therefore, the addition of AKG to the diet can enhance the growth performance of piglets and improve intestinal immunity.

Summary: The liver possesses unique immunological characteristics but is susceptible to immune mediated injury. Regulatory T cells play a crucial role in preventing tissue damage, and therapies aiming to increase their function have shown efficacy in autoimmune diseases and organ transplantations. Research on the hepatic microenvironment and the role of Tregs in liver diseases is crucial for maintaining immunological balance.

Summary: This study successfully induced antigen-specific Treg cells in a model of experimental autoimmune uveitis, alleviating ocular inflammation without compromising beneficial immune responses. The therapeutic effect was mediated by inhibiting specific T cell responses, while maintaining overall T cell immunity in the host.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between stool genipin-producing activity and the clinical effect of Inchinkoto (ICKT) in patients with malignant obstructive jaundice. Results showed a positive correlation between stool genipin-producing activity and the efficacy of ICKT, indicating that stool profile analysis may predict the therapeutic effect of ICKT. Modifying the microbiome could be a target to enhance the therapeutic effect of ICKT.
