Summary: Circumscribed palmoplantar hypokeratosis is a rare acquired dermatosis mainly affecting middle-aged or elderly women, presenting clinically with sharply limited, annular erythematous plaques. Despite its characteristic clinical and microscopic features, the pathogenesis and treatment of the disease remain unclear.

Summary: This case report describes the first reported case of palmoplantar keratoderma associated with human lymphotropic virus infection. This new clinical manifestation should be considered in patients with dermatological characteristics in endemic areas. The symptoms were managed effectively with dermal hydration and skin care.

Summary: A man in his late 70s with a history of psoriasis and non-melanoma skin cancer presented with a progressive rash on his right thenar eminence. After unsuccessful topical treatment, a shave biopsy confirmed the presence of circumscribed palmar hypokeratosis and central actinic keratosis. Treatment with 5-fluorouracil and calcipotriene cream resulted in near-complete resolution of the rash, suggesting a potential novel treatment option for patients with concomitant actinic keratosis.

Summary: Palmo-plantar lesions in discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) are considered a rare condition that is often refractory to conventional treatments. This case report suggests that therapy with mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) may be an effective and safe approach for managing refractory palmo-plantar DLE.

Summary: Single subcortical infarction (SSI) is caused by two main etiological subtypes, branch atheromatous disease (BAD) and cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD)-related SSI. This study found that patients with BAD were more likely to perform worse in language, attention, executive function, and memory compared to those with CSVD-related SSI, even after adjusting for age, years of education, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, and lesion location.

Summary: Acral peeling skin syndrome (APSS) is a heterogeneous group of genodermatoses, with some cases caused by mutations in SERPINB7 gene leading to unopposed protease activity and enhanced epidermal desquamation. This study found that loss of SERPINB7 function disrupts desmosomal components, contributing to skin peeling alongside stratum corneum perturbation.

Summary: The study identified two subtypes in individuals with dyscalculia, with differences mainly in mathematical abilities and possibly in attention. Intelligence differences were not significant between subtypes, while working memory and reading fluency were found to have negligible differences. The results appeared to be robust regardless of the diagnostic test used.

Summary: This study analyzed the gene expression profiles of patients with Crohn's disease (CD) and identified two gene subtypes: immune and metabolic. The immune subtype was associated with leukocyte migration and cytokine interactions, while the metabolic subtype was associated with metabolic pathways. The combination of interleukin 1 beta, interleukin 6, and Toll-like receptor 4 effectively distinguished between these two gene subtypes.

Summary: This study aimed to describe normative reference values of regional plantar load and compare them with two pathological case studies, finding clear differences in the load transfer phase of gait. The findings highlight the clinical significance of the load transfer phase of gait for intervention planning.

Summary: In this study, concentrations of various cytokines in the aqueous humor of eyes with circumscribed choroidal hemangioma (CCH) were compared with a control group. Results showed higher concentrations of VEGF-A and IP-10 in CCH patients, indicating their involvement in the angiogenic and antiangiogenic processes. This provides new insights into the pathophysiology of CCH and suggests potential targets for treatment.

Summary: Malignant melanoma originating from melanocytes is a highly malignant tumor with poor prognosis, rarely occurring on the foot. Among the chronic complications of diabetes, diabetic foot ulcer is one of the most serious. This paper presents two cases of type 2 diabetes patients with malignant melanoma on the foot. Clinicians should enhance understanding of diabetic patients with acral malignant melanoma. Prompt pathological biopsy of cutaneous lesions should be performed when diabetic foot ulcers persist and do not heal, to avoid missed diagnosis and improve survival rate.

Summary: The paper proposes a chord-angle evaluation condition based on the chord and its two corresponding minimum angles to solve the minimum circumscribed circle problem. By transforming these conditions into corresponding operators, computational efficiency is improved. Experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm can accurately and effectively determine the minimum circumscribed circle in different data point scenarios.
