Summary: Effective communication and patient empowerment are crucial for medication safety before hospital discharge. However, findings from a qualitative case study in a university hospital in Norway indicate that overall communication between healthcare personnel and patients may not adequately promote patient empowerment. Both parties seem influenced by biomedical traditions and uncertain about the roles and opportunities associated with patient-centred care.

Summary: This study defined nine important dimensions of patient-centred infertility care (PCIC) based on Arab women's perspectives, including accessibility, cost minimization, information and education, staff attitudes and communication, staff competence, physical comfort, privacy, psychological and emotional support, and continuity and coordination of care. The concept of PCIC was influenced by participants' demographics, their experiences with infertility care, and their health-seeking behavior. The study findings suggest a need to improve infertility care in Arab countries by addressing patients' needs and developing validated tools for measuring PCIC. Additionally, differences between the Arab and European PCIC models were identified, with women continuing to have unmet needs.

Summary: Geriatric patients have varied attitudes towards advance care planning (ACP), with some expressing concerns about discussing end-of-life decisions and the capacity of the healthcare system to conduct ACP. The timing of ACP discussions is related to the perception of health situation rather than specific age. The involvement of well-trained and trustworthy healthcare professionals, as well as the participation of family members, are important factors. Themes mentioned by participants regarding content include quality of life, fear of losing their spouse, previous experiences with death, and practical concerns about funerals and wills.

Summary: Participants in this study faced barriers when accessing urgent healthcare for infections, valued home care for its comforts and independence, but were concerned about burdening family. Many saw hospital admission as necessary for severe illnesses, despite recognizing the risk of hospital-acquired infections. Ambulatory care was considered convenient if local, but transportation challenges were noted. Providers may need to improve access protocols and communicate risks to better balance convenience and care facilities.

Summary: This qualitative study aims to identify the sociotechnical, structural, and process-related factors leading to agitation events and physical restraint use in the emergency department (ED) using a systems-based approach. The study found that agitation events in the ED were manifestations of patients' structural barriers to care and staff members' exposure to external stressors from social and healthcare systems. Potential long-term solutions include recognizing agitated patients' exposure to psychological trauma, improving coordination within the mental health emergency care network, and optimizing physical environment conditions and organizational culture.
