Summary: The Group Climate Inventory-Revised (GCI-R) has been shown to be psychometrically adequate when applied to adult clients with mild intellectual disability or borderline intellectual functioning in secure residential facilities. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the five-factor structure of the GCI-R and demonstrated good internal consistency reliability of its scales.

Summary: The correlation between challenging behavior (CB) and epilepsy in people with intellectual disability (ID) is still controversial. This study investigated the clinical characteristics of CB in individuals with and without epilepsy among people with ID hospitalized in a residential facility. The results showed that almost all individuals with CB had profound ID. There was no significant difference in the rate of CB between people with and without epilepsy. The study also found that self-injurious behavior was more frequently observed in epilepsy cases.

Summary: Adults with intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) make up a small percentage of the global population, but they are at a significant risk of premature morbidity or mortality. This is mainly due to preventable health conditions that can be improved through the intervention of caregivers. They are also more likely to experience neglect or mistreatment, which is a problem documented in various countries and care settings. Practical and cost-effective interventions can address the existing disparities and challenges.

Summary: The study identified the key factors affecting support staff's perception of their role in supporting the sexuality of adults with intellectual disabilities, including the support staff's role, facilitators and barriers, sexuality of residents with intellectual disabilities, and policies and regulations. The results highlight the importance of expanding support staff's knowledge, clarifying procedures for implementing their role, and establishing a clear practice framework.

Summary: Adults with intellectual disabilities face significant physical and mental health needs in acute hospital settings compared to their typically developing peers. Poor communication from healthcare staff, lack of information sharing, and issues related to compassionate care and respect were identified as common challenges. Increasing the use of hospital passports and expanding the role of intellectual disability liaison nurses may enhance the hospital experience for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Summary: Haploinsufficiency of TRIP12 causes Clark-Baraitser syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by intellectual disability, epilepsy, autism spectrum disorder, and dysmorphic features. Through GestaltMatcher image analysis based on deep-learning algorithms, a distinct facial gestalt was established. The largest cohort to date of individuals with TRIP12 variants was studied, further defining the associated phenotype and introducing a facial gestalt.

Summary: This study explores the knowledge of trauma and trauma informed care among residential staff. Findings show that different staff groups have different perspectives on trauma and trauma informed care. Limitations were found in staff's knowledge of trauma, implementation of evidence-based supports, and access to specialist services for adults with an intellectual disability. All participants highlighted the need for training on trauma.

Summary: The study explores the role of informal caregivers for adults with intellectual disabilities in Poland. It finds that caregiving has a negative impact on the well-being of caregivers and highlights issues such as addiction to caregiving, psychophysical fatigue, and neglect from the society. As the number of seniors with intellectual disabilities continues to grow, it is important to consider the unique situations of caregivers.
