Summary: A phosphanido-type bridged bis(imidazolium) salt, prepared via reductive deselenization of a tricyclic 1,4-diphosphinine diselone, allows access to a novel anionic P-functional tricyclic bis(NHC) through deprotonation. This compound also enables a P-functionalization/deprotonation sequence to obtain the first mixed P-substituted tricyclic bis(NHCs) and facilitates coordination of phosphorus centers to rhodium(I) fragments.

Summary: The rhodium complex Rh(HL)(COD)Cl, featuring a functionalized N-heterocyclic carbene ligand with an oxygen-containing pendant arm, has been used to synthesize a series of neutral and cationic Rh(i) O,C chelates. Analysis shows that the strength of the Rh-O bond is greatly affected by the nature of the O-donor, resulting in significant differences in catalytic activity. The most active catalyst, [Rh(L)(COD)]2, demonstrates good catalytic performance under mild conditions for hydrosilylation and selective remote functionalization of internal olefins.

Summary: Here, we report the synthesis and characterization of a series of organometallic Borromean rings (BRs) and [2]catenanes prepared from benzobiscarbene ligands. The formation and stability of these interlocked species are strongly influenced by solvophobic effects. The stability of BRs can be enhanced by using precursors with longer alkyl substituents, while the proportion of [2]catenanes in solution can be increased by lengthening the N-alkyl substitutes.

Summary: Asymmetric metal-based catalysis has progressed rapidly in recent years, relying on chiral ligands for its efficiency. Rational design and careful selection of chiral ligands have led to numerous breakthroughs. N-heterocyclic carbene ligands (NHCs) are widely used chiral architectures in asymmetric catalysis, thanks to both steric and electronic aspects that provide unexpected chemical stability and coordination adaptability with various transition metals. The ease of precursor synthesis and the ability to introduce chiral elements into the backbone of NHCs make them potential ligands in metal-based asymmetric catalysis. The number of strategies for designing efficient NHC-metal catalysts for novel asymmetric chemical transformations has significantly increased.

Summary: The incorporation of N-tethers into N-heterocyclic carbene ligands has led to the development of a powerful class of multidentate, responsive ligand frameworks that have shown success and usefulness in various applications, particularly in homogeneous catalysis. These NHC complexes of group IX transition metals exhibit a wide range of accessible oxidation states, favorable stabilities, and reactivities, and have been the subject of significant research interest in the past two decades. The inclusion of carbon as a secondary binding atom has enabled these metal complexes to undergo complex C-H activation, small molecule fixation and activation, and unusual migratory insertion reactions.

Summary: 1,2,3-Triazine 1-oxides are highly effective substrates for inverse electron demand Diels-Alder reactions. These stable heterocyclic compounds, formed from vinyldiazoacetates via reaction with tert-butyl nitrite, undergo clean nucleophilic addition reactions with amidines to form pyrimidines, with beta-ketocarbonyl compounds and related nitrile derivatives to form polysubstituted pyridines, and with 3/5-aminopyrazoles to form pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines, in high yields. These reactions, catalyzed by bases, are rapid at room temperature and allow for a range of structural modifications.

Summary: Inverse crown ethers (ICEs) have alternating polarity of cationic metal ring and encapsulated ion, with a new tridentate aryloxide-N-heterocyclic carbene ligand introduced to stabilize mu(4)-oxo [Mg4O] cores in ICEs. The reaction with MgBr2 resulted in formation of (L)Mg2Br3, (L)(2)Mg4OBr4, and (L)Mg4OBr5(THF)(2), which all possess ICEs character with mu(4)-Oxo [Mg4O] unit.

Summary: Four titanium-oxo clusters (TOCs) with the same coordination environments were synthesized using benzoic acid derivatives and Ti((OPr)-Pr-i)(4) via solvothermal synthesis in DMF solvent. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the open cage-like structure of the TOCs. The photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B was effectively achieved by Ti-MOB, which had the lowest band gap and open cage-like structure.
