Summary: In genetic association studies, multivariate analysis of correlated phenotypes offers statistical and biological advantages compared to analyzing one phenotype at a time. The joint analysis makes use of additional information contained in the correlation and avoids multiple testing, while also providing insight into shared genetic mechanisms of multiple phenotypes.

Summary: A deep learning model was proposed in this study to estimate heart rate, diastolic blood pressure, and systolic blood pressure using single-channel photoplethysmography signals, achieving improved accuracy with the use of a long-term recurrent convolutional network and long short-term memory network. The model was validated through stability testing with promising results, demonstrating its effectiveness compared to existing counterparts.

Summary: This study aimed to assess blood pressure response in well-trained individuals during a cycle ergometer test, with a focus on systolic BP. Results showed an exaggerated systolic blood pressure increase compared to previous studies, while pulse arrival time demonstrated strong intra-individual associations and potential as a surrogate SBP measurement during exercise testing. Future research should further investigate the clinical implications of high blood pressure response in well-trained individuals.

Summary: Accumulating evidence suggests that instant exposure to particulate matter (PM) can increase blood pressure, possibly through the involvement of cell adhesion regulatory genes. However, few studies have investigated their interaction, and it is unclear if these genes modify the association. This study aimed to assess the association between instant PM exposure and blood pressure, and examine if SNPs in four cell adhesion regulatory genes modify the relationship.

Summary: A systematic review and meta-analysis examined the effects of 17 beta-estradiol plus nor-ethisterone acetate administration on blood pressure and inflammation markers. The results showed that this drug combination increased systolic blood pressure and C-reactive protein concentrations, while decreasing diastolic blood pressure. However, the clinical relevance of these effects was low.

Summary: The study found that there is an association between first-trimester weight gain and the risk of developing hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), and this association is partially mediated by early blood pressure. Early GWG category can better predict the risk of HDP.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review of the sources of measurement errors in oscillometric-based automatic office blood pressure measurements (AOBPM) and identified various factors that may contribute to measurement errors. Caution should be exercised when interpreting BP readings in clinical settings, and the need for standardized BP measurements and guidance for clinical practitioners using AOBPM devices are emphasized.

Summary: Through a systematic review and meta-analysis, this study confirmed the effectiveness of Guar gum in reducing blood pressure. The results showed that the consumption of Guar gum significantly decreased both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The greatest reduction in blood pressure was seen in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome, and higher dosage and longer intervention duration were associated with better outcomes.

Summary: This study investigates the differences in heart rate variability (HRV) among healthy individuals, individuals with metabolic syndrome (MetS), and individuals with diabetes. The study finds a significant negative association between the number of MetS components and HRV, with the decrease in HRV leveling off after the third component. Additionally, there is a significant negative association between HbA1c and HRV. It suggests that both MetS and diabetes populations have impaired autonomic nervous system function compared to healthy controls.

Summary: This study explores the recovery experiences of physical injury survivors with severe pain during the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway. The findings suggest that the pandemic and interrupted healthcare have had a negative impact on the participants' recovery, mental health, and physical health. Continuous rehabilitation services and integration of mental health support are essential for injury survivors to mitigate the crisis's negative impact on their recovery.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of psychoactive substance use and impairment among patients with suspected severe traumatic injury. The results showed that 35% of trauma admissions involved psychoactive substances, with 80% of these patients likely impaired at the time of injury. Younger males and patients with violence-related injuries were the most affected. Injury prevention strategies should target high-risk groups.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between heart rate variability (HRV) and baroreceptor sensitivity (BRS) with evoked pain responsiveness in chronic pain (CP) patients, and found that psychological distress mediates this association. The mediation effect of psychological distress was not significantly different between sexes.
