Summary: This study systematically explored the association between anxiety and depression with migraine and its related burdens. The results showed that anxiety and depression were significantly associated with an increased risk of developing migraine, as well as migraine frequency, severity, disability, headache impact, quality of life, and sleep quality. The SAS score had a higher predictive value in predicting the development of migraine compared to the SDS score. Therefore, enhanced assessment of SAS and SDS scores is of great clinical value for the early prevention and treatment of migraine and its burdens.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between anxiety and depression and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in adults with migraines. The findings showed that a significant proportion of migraineurs also experienced depression and anxiety, which were negatively associated with HRQoL. Migraineurs with comorbid depression and anxiety had the lowest HRQoL scores. Furthermore, regular exercise was found to have a positive impact on HRQoL among migraine sufferers.

Summary: This study examines the extent of sexual dysfunction and other mental health predictors, and their effect on quality of life in a metro-city in India. The findings show that more than one-fourth of the respondents reported sexual dysfunction during the first wave of the pandemic, and issues like depression and stress were associated with poor quality of life.

Summary: The prevalence of sexual dysfunction (SD) in people with multiple sclerosis (pwMS) is 47%. Risk factors for SD in pwMS include smoking, disability, depression, and bladder and bowel dysfunction, while the use of disease-modifying treatment lowers the risk. SD is associated with worse quality of life and lower physical activity. Screening for SD is recommended, especially in patients with disability, depression, or bladder and bowel dysfunction.

Summary: This study examined the impact of OSA on sexual functions in women and found significant differences in age, BMI, anxiety, depression, apnea-hypopnea index, and sexual experience between women with OSA and healthy women. It concluded that sexual dysfunction in females with OSA is often under-recognized but important, potentially leading to increased prevalence of depression and anxiety, further reducing quality of life.

Summary: This multicentre study in Japan assessed the impacts of the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic on headache-related disability and symptoms in migraine patients. The study found that increased stress, concern about COVID-19, and negative impacts on daily life were reported by a significant portion of participants, with new-onset headache associated with younger age and worsened mood and sleep. The study also identified factors such as worsened sleep, increased stress, medication shortages, and new-onset headache as determinants of increased headache-related disability during the pandemic.

Summary: The study found that psychological factors are most strongly associated with the subjective degree of headache-related disability (PDI), followed by the days with disability (MIDAS) and headache frequency. This highlights the need for comprehensive assessment of migraine patients with different headache parameters and consideration of psychological treatment, especially in patients with high disability.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between problematic metacognitions, negative cognitive content, and emotional distress, and migraine-related disability in adult migraine patients. The results show that higher levels of depression, anxiety, stress, and negative automatic thoughts are significantly associated with more severe migraine disability. High levels of depression and increased headache frequency can predict migraine-related severe disability.

Summary: Children with neurodevelopmental conditions attending developmental assessment services have high rates of mental health concerns, with approximately 48% of preschool and 61% of school-age children having subclinical or clinically elevated scores. These rates remain high even after excluding items specifically related to neurodevelopmental concerns. School-aged females are more likely to have elevated internalizing problems compared to males (67% vs 48%). Children with multiple DSM-5 diagnoses also show a greater rate of subclinical or clinically elevated scores. These findings highlight the importance of identifying and addressing mental health concerns in children attending developmental assessment services.

Summary: The present study examined the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and headache-related disability in young adults with migraine. It was found that increased depression and anxiety symptoms during the pandemic attenuated the improvements in disability associated with the pandemic. Interventions that address comorbid psychological symptoms may play a crucial role in reducing headache-related disability and improving outcomes for young adults with migraine during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Summary: This study aimed to test the utility of intraoperative blink reflex (BR) during cerebellopontine angle and skull base surgeries, assess its prognostic value for facial nerve functions, and compare it with facial corticobulbar motor evoked potentials (CoMEPs). The study found that BR had a slightly better sensitivity than facial CoMEPs in predicting impairment of facial nerve functions for both postoperative and third-month time points. The blink reflex showed better accuracy for predicting postoperative nerve functions, whereas CoMEPs correlated better in predicting third-month outcome.

Summary: The study followed adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients who underwent thoracoscopic VBT for at least 2 years and found that intermediate discs and facet joints were preserved after surgery with no significant differences or further deterioration noted. In one patient, previously degenerated discs worsened, while in another patient, healthy adjacent facet joints degenerated. Further studies with larger cohorts and longer follow-up periods are needed for a more comprehensive analysis of the effects of VBT surgery.
