Summary: Many Schiff bases derived from 2-hydrazinobenzothiazole and isatin have been used to form [ML2]Cl2 type Co(II) complexes. Nitrogen from azomethine, oxygen from lactonyl, and nitrogen atoms of the thiazole ring contribute to coordinating the metallic ion. The complexes consist entirely of metal and have a geometrical octahedron structure, as confirmed by analytical, magnetic, and spectroscopic investigations.

Summary: New Schiff bases, ligand (L), poly-ligand (PL) and metal complexes [M(PL)2], were synthesized and characterized. The metal complexes showed better biological properties than PL, including DNA binding-cleavage, antioxidant and antibacterial activities. The [Cu(PL)2] complex exhibited excellent oxidative cleavage activity and denaturing ability, while [Hg(PL)2] complex showed high antioxidant and antibacterial activities. The UV-Vis spectra confirmed the electrostatic mode of DNA binding for the poly-ligand and its metal complexes. Rating: 8 points

Summary: We synthesized and characterized Cu(ii) complexes CuL1-CuL6 with cyclen-based ligands. The ligands L-1-L-6 comprise different donor sets including S and O atoms. The substitution of N donor atoms with hard donor O atoms leads to efficient oxidative nucleases, but dissociation of the complex upon reduction. We are showing that the rational combination of O and S atoms next to two nitrogen donors within the macrocycle leads to the stabilization of both redox states, resulting in the highest oxidative DNA cleavage activity within this family of cyclen-based Cu(ii) complexes.

Summary: Cu(ii) complexes with ATCUN peptide ligands were investigated for their ROS generation and oxidative DNA degradation abilities. However, the biological activity of most ATCUN complexes such as Cu-GGH (Gly-Gly-His) is low. Tuning the redox chemistry by incorporating N-heteroaromatics reinstates ROS production, leading to efficient DNA cleavage.

Summary: A stable Zn-BTC MOF photocatalyst, GO@ZnMC, was successfully prepared using an in-situ solvothermal method with varying concentrations of graphene oxide. Characterization techniques such as X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were used to analyze the composition, structure, and optical properties of the catalyst. The GO@ZnMC composite showed higher degradation efficiency for antibiotics CIP and TC compared to pristine GO, Zn-MOF, and other composites, especially when using calcium peroxide as the co-catalyst. The increased photocatalytic activity was attributed to the formation of a heterojunction that suppresses electron-hole pair recombination. The catalyst remained stable and reusable for four catalytic cycles.
