Summary: This study investigates the anti-hepatitis B virus (HBV) activity of lithospermic acid (LA) in vitro and in vivo. The study finds that LA exhibits anti-HBV activity by inhibiting HBV DNA replication and reducing HBsAg and HBeAg levels. LA induces autophagy through the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway.

Summary: The study utilized molecular docking and a zebrafish model to screen for active ingredients in Danshen and their anti-thrombotic effects, finding that salvianolic acid B, lithospermic acid, rosmarinic acid, and luteolin-7-O-beta-d-glucoside could attenuate thrombosis and restore red blood cell levels. This method is effective in uncovering potential active components and mechanisms in natural products.

Summary: This study comprehensively investigated the disturbance of hepatic lipid homeostasis induced by nitrosamines in mice and found that nitrosamines exposure caused liver injury, inflammatory infiltrates, and hepatic edema. Lipidomic profiling analysis revealed alterations in various lipid levels, along with increased fatty acid oxidation and activation of inflammatory responses. These findings provide new insights into the early toxic effects of nitrosamines exposure.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic effect of date palm extract against gentamicin-induced hepato-renal injury. It was found that date palm extract could alleviate the damage caused by gentamicin to the liver and kidneys, possibly due to its high content of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory components.

Summary: Valproic acid (VPA) is widely used in the treatment of epilepsy, but its potential hepatotoxicity is a major concern. This study aimed to investigate the biomarkers and mechanisms of VPA-induced liver injury in epileptic children. Metabolomic analysis revealed that VPA disrupts fatty acid beta-oxidation (beta-FAO) and leads to the accumulation of serum long-chain acylcarnitines (LCACs). Additionally, the study found that fenofibrate (Feno) can improve beta-FAO and protect against VPA-induced hepatotoxicity by activating PPAR alpha.

Summary: This study investigates the potential antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic effects of ellagic acid (EA) on lead-induced testicular and hepato-renal toxicity. EA administration reduces lead residue levels in tissues, improves liver and kidney function, restores redox homeostasis, and suppresses oxidative stress, inflammatory, and apoptotic responses.

Summary: Sucrose was oxidized using 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy-laccase and sodium periodate in a two-step reaction to generate carboxylated polyaldehyde sucrose (openSu). By changing the catalyst composition and curing conditions, openSu was successfully combined with cellulose. The optimal finishing conditions were found to be a mixture of magnesium chloride and sodium hypophosphite at a mass concentration ratio of 16 g/L:4 g/L, and curing at 150 degrees C for 3 min followed by curing at 180 degrees C for 2 min. The openSu-finished fabric showed significant improvement in anti-wrinkle performance.

Summary: The objective of this study was to explore the protective effect of ethanolic cardamom extract on liver-kidney toxicity caused by gentamicin in male albino rats. The results showed that the ethanolic cardamom extract can effectively protect the liver and kidney against the harmful effects of gentamicin at different doses.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the chemical composition and biological activity of wild- and in vitro grown Rindera umbellata. HPLC-DAD and GC-MS/FID were used for analysis, and antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity were monitored. The results showed higher levels of total flavonoids and rosmarinic acid in in vitro samples, while wild-growing samples had higher levels of lithospermic B acid. The MTT test showed that colorectal HT-29 cells were more sensitive to wild-growing and 0.3 M sucrose samples.

Summary: Hepatitis B is a major global public health burden and current therapeutic strategies have limitations. In this study, a carrier-free metal-organic hybrid nanoassembly loaded with an anti-viral agent and an anti-inflammatory compound was developed. The nanoassembly demonstrated enhanced anti-HBV effect and alleviated inflammation in mouse models of hepatitis B.
