Summary: The study compared three laser-assisted irrigation modalities and different fiber-tip geometries on debris removal rate in artificial root canals. Findings indicate that dual-pulse laser irrigation modalities show significantly higher debris removal rates compared to single-pulse. Additionally, the flat fiber-tip outperforms the radial fiber-tip in certain scenarios.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the biofilm removal effects of laser activated irrigation (LAI) using a pig model. We found that the fiber tip position did not significantly impact the outcomes, and successfully observed the occurrence and movement of cavitation bubbles during laser irradiation.

Summary: The study compared the bacteria debridement efficacy of the first and second generations of sonic root canal irrigant activation systems. The results showed that activation of 2% NaOCl with either EndoActivator or SmartLite Pro EndoActivator significantly reduced the overall intracanal bacterial load compared to syringe-side-vented needle delivery. However, delivering 2% NaOCl for 5 minutes using the syringe-side-vented needle produced better bacteria debridement than either sonic agitation system.

Summary: A high-energy, short-pulse duration 2.94 μm Er:YAG laser based on a spinning mirror was reported, with an output energy of 805 mJ, pulse duration of 61 ns, and peak power of 13 MW. The pulse jitter was measured to be less than 10 ns for 150 ns Q-switched pulses, making it suitable for laser applications requiring precise pulse synchronization.

Summary: This study compared the in vitro efficacy and safety of different irrigant activation devices in apically closed and open root canal systems. The results showed that ultrasonic agitation was more effective in cleaning the central area of the root canal, while it had a lower effect in cleaning the simulated periapical lesion. Therefore, ultrasonic agitation was found to be more targeted and safer after the administration of sodium hypochlorite.

Summary: This study compared the antimicrobial effects of shock wave enhanced emission photo-acoustic streaming (SWEEPS) technique and antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) on Enterococcus faecalis biofilm in root canals. The results showed that the application of SWEEPS technique with curcumin and nano-curcumin as photosensitizers, activated by LED, effectively reduced E. faecalis in root canals.

Summary: This in vitro study evaluated the cytotoxic effects of effective ecoproduce (EEP) derived from fruit peels on MC3T3-E1 cells. The results showed that EEP with a concentration below 6.25% was non-cytotoxic, regardless of the fermentation period, and could serve as an alternative endodontic irrigant.

Summary: In this study, a novel acousto-optic Q switch was fabricated using a longitudinal acoustic mode in a lithium niobate (LiNbO3) crystal in the 3-micron wavelength range. The device was designed to achieve a high diffraction efficiency close to the theoretical prediction based on the properties of the crystallographic structure and material. The effectiveness of the device was verified by its application in an Er,Cr:YSGG laser, reaching a maximum diffraction efficiency of 57% at a radio frequency of 40.68 MHz. The study also confirmed the effectiveness of bulk LiNbO3 as an acousto-optic Q switch for the first time.

Summary: This review compared the release of growth factors using different root canal irrigant solutions and found that 10% EDTA showed higher levels of TGF-1 release compared to 10% citric acid. However, the evidence certainty was identified as low to very low, demanding further studies before EDTA can be recommended as a better irrigant for regenerative endodontics.

Summary: This study compared the therapeutic effects of sodium hypochlorite combined with Nd: YAG laser and sodium hypochlorite alone for root canal disinfection in patients with pulpitis. The results showed that the combined treatment significantly improved therapeutic effects, relieved inflammatory reaction, and decreased bacterial infection.

Summary: The study showed that quercetin solution has good antibacterial activity and does not harm root canal dentin, which can improve the success rate of root canal treatment. Experimental results on infected dentin demonstrated that quercetin is effective in killing Enterococcus faecalis and enhancing dentin strength.

Summary: Through meta-analysis, we found that there were no significant differences in bond strength between erbium lasers and acid etching, but the Er,Cr:YAG laser group had lower shear bond strength (SBS) than the acid group. In addition, there were statistical significant differences between the erbium laser groups and the acid etching group in terms of adhesive remnant index (ARI) and ARI score.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of laser-activated root canal irrigation (LAI) and ultrasonic-activated irrigation (UAI) in removing calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)(2)] paste from lateral canals, and found that LAI was more effective in cleaning lateral canals away from the tip than UAI. Increasing pulse energy and tip diameter can significantly improve the removal efficiency when the tip insertion depth is fixed at a certain position.
