Summary: For Chinese college students, following a healthy dietary pattern or a high-quality diet, similar to the Mediterranean diet, is more likely to maintain a healthy weight and normal body composition. Fat or muscle indexes play an important role in predicting overweight and obesity, advocating for the application of BIA among Chinese college students.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the associations between dietary patterns at 21 years and changes in body weight and BMI from 21 to 30 years. The results showed that higher adherence to the Western dietary pattern at 21 years was positively associated with increases in body weight and BMI, while the prudent dietary pattern had no significant association with these outcomes.

Summary: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a common complication of schizophrenia that is exacerbated by long-term use of antipsychotics. The study found that levels of leptin were significantly increased in MetS patients, while ghrelin levels were significantly decreased. There were fewer significant correlations between ghrelin and other hormones in MetS patients compared to those without MetS.

Different BMI trajectories have varying impacts on the risk of MetS, providing important guidance for the prevention and management of MetS.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the dietary patterns of Lebanese pregnant women and their correlation with maternal and neonatal outcomes. Three dietary patterns were identified: Westernized, Mixed, and Neo-Mediterranean. These patterns were found to be correlated with pre-gestational BMI and some maternal variables, but not with maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Summary: This article provides another perspective by discussing how obesity increases the risk of knee osteoarthritis by altering metabolism and inflammation. The relationship between metabolic syndrome and osteoarthritis is context-dependent, and the factors contributing to obesity-induced osteoarthritis may differ between men and women. Metabolomic analyses have identified potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for knee osteoarthritis.

Summary: The study found that increasing relative lean body mass and appendicular skeletal mass can reduce the risk of metabolic syndrome in both men and women, while increasing relative body fat mass index can increase the risk of metabolic syndrome. Particularly, the risk reduction of MetS is more significant in groups with higher baseline BMI and body fat mass index.

Summary: The aim of this study was to explore the associations between major dietary patterns and lipid profiles, as well as the associations between these profiles and the risks of general and central obesity. The study found that the newly affluent southern pattern was associated with 45 metabolites and with increased risks of obesity. The global lipid profile potentially explained a significant portion of the effects of this dietary pattern on obesity.

Summary: This study assessed the expression of the BMP2 gene in CRC tissues and validated the plasma concentration of BMP2 protein. The results showed downregulation of BMP2 expression in CRC tissue and an increase in miR-370 and miR-138 expression. Decreased BMP2 with concurrent increased miR-370 and miR-138 expression was associated with malignant clinicopathological features of CRC and poor patient prognosis.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between positive orientation and fatigue in Polish nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the mediation role of emotional control. The results indicate a significant negative correlation between positive orientation and fatigue, and a significant positive correlation between emotional control and fatigue. Therefore, it is crucial to enhance positive orientation and emotional control to minimize the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on nursing students.

Summary: Cholecystolithiasis is a common gastrointestinal disorder that often requires surgery, but it carries the risk of iatrogenic bile duct injury, which is a severe complication. In this study, we analyzed the frequency of bile duct injuries and how they were managed in our facility. We found that women were primarily affected, with acute cholecystitis being the main indication for surgery. The most common complication was injury to the common bile duct, and the most common repair procedure was Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy. Early complications were experienced by half of the patients, and the overall mortality rate was 22.7%.

Summary: This study analyzed the correlation between the third dose of COVID-19 vaccination and the dynamics of IgG anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike protein antibody levels in a group of healthy individuals. The results showed that IgG levels were significantly higher and less variable after the second booster vaccination compared to the first booster. The antibody levels were positively correlated with females, healthcare workers, the elderly, and participants with a negative COVID-19 history.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the persistent changes in microvascular parameters based on OCTA in patients hospitalized due to COVID-19 bilateral pneumonia. We found significantly decreased vessel density (VD) in SCP in COVID-19 patients, as well as decreased VD in DCP and CC, with increased VD in FCC. Gender differences were also observed, with decreased foveal VD in SCP and DCP in women compared to men, while increased FAZ area in SCP and superior VD in SCC were found in women. In conclusion, persistent changes in OCTA ocular parameters were noticed in COVID-19 patients.

Summary: This study aimed to monitor the changes in balance expression during the therapeutic process in children aged 8-12 with postural disorders. The evaluation of spine shape and equilibrium reactions showed that children with shape-of-spine disorders had lower efficiency in equilibrium reactions compared to those without disorders.
