Summary: Improperly managed urbanization can lead to Urban Stream Syndrome (USS), characterized by increased flood flows, channel erosion, and degradation of aquatic habitat. This study examines the changes in Flow Duration Curves (FDC) and Sediment Rating Curves (SRC) as indicators for detecting USS. The findings suggest that the increase in peak flows and the exponent of the SRC magnify the contribution of flood flows to sediment and phosphorus loads in urbanizing watersheds.

Summary: This article investigates the accuracy improvement of sediment ratings by introducing a four-parameter equation and using ensemble machine learning and ensemble empirical models. Different models were evaluated using field data from two measuring stations, and the results show that both machine learning and empirical models can improve the estimation of sediment loads at different time scales.

Summary: This study proposes a parsimonious probabilistic model based on copulas to infill sediment data scarcity issues in river basins of Taiwan. By constructing a copula-based bivariate distribution model and using conditional distributions, the study provides probabilistic estimations of sediment loads. The outcomes of the proposed approach are compared with traditional sediment rating curve methods and evaluated based on performance metrics, showing different strengths in terms of accuracy and behavior preservation.

Summary: In this study, four individual models were used for modeling soil erosion in Katar catchment, and two strategies were applied to improve the predictive accuracy. The results showed that the HW model performed the best among the individual models, while the NFE ensemble technique provided the best performance. The hybrid HW-XGB model achieved the best predictive performance.

Summary: This study analyzed the change of land use and lake area in a natural water source basin subjected to human pressure and found significant destruction of natural vegetation and a 2% reduction in the lake surface area. Sediment prediction models were developed using measurement data, and the artificial neural networks (ANN) model achieved the closest results.

Summary: The study area in the Sutlej River basin of the western Himalaya shows distinct influences from the Indian summer monsoon and the Westerlies, with changes in precipitation and temperature impacting sediment load in the river. Seasonal variability plays a significant role in sediment transport and hydrological parameters.

Summary: This study highlights the impacts of the Water-Sediment Regulation Scheme (WSRS) on the lower Yellow River system, showing that artificial floods have significantly altered the volume and grain size patterns of transported sediment. The changes have led to high sediment loads over a shorter time frame and coarsening of the river channel, causing a shift from recession to progradation in the Yellow River delta and rapid burial of terrestrial organic carbon and pollutants.

Summary: This study aims to explore the interdependent shifts in streamflow and suspended sediment load across the natural-to-post dam construction continuum in a transboundary Himalayan river basin. The results indicate that dam construction has a disruptive effect on increasing sediment loads, and sediment trapping is exacerbated during the non-monsoon season. However, during the monsoon season, dam-released sediment-starved streamflow leads to increased erosion in the basin.

Summary: The paper introduces a novel approach to predict and plot the complete axial load-shortening curve of concentrically loaded rectangular and circular CFST columns using artificial neural network (ANN) method trained with a database and finite element models. A MATLAB-based graphical user interface (GUI) was developed for users to predict and plot the axial load-shortening response of CFST columns. Parametric studies were conducted to verify the accuracy of the ANN models in predicting the behavior of CFST columns fabricated with different geometric and material properties, showing that the developed ANN models accurately predict the load-deflection response of CFST columns.

Summary: This study aimed to develop an app that could automatically and accurately predict dementia classes for patients. The results showed that the artificial neural network (ANN) model had higher accuracy rates than the convolutional neural network (CNN) model, making it more effective in predicting dementia classes. An ANN-based app for predicting dementia classes in patients was successfully developed in this study.

Summary: This study explores the use of artificial neural networks (ANNs) for precise load rating estimation and bridge management. It shows that a small set of refined analyses combined with ANNs can be used as a predictive tool for similar methods and bridges in a population. The committee networks (CN) model provides improved prediction accuracy with higher confidence levels compared to the single-best-network approach.

Summary: In this study, the results of sediment finger- printing research on riverbank erosion in 118 catchments across the globe were compiled and analyzed. The main objective was to assess different finger- printing tracers quantitatively and analyze the influence of catchment size on riverbank erosion. The findings showed that radionuclide tracers have the most consistent contributions to riverbank erosion, with riverbanks accounting for 1-25% of total sediment loss. However, there was a clear shift in contributions from surface sources to riverbanks with increasing catchment size. Therefore, long-term monitoring of sediment loads and riverbank erosion in nested catchments is recommended.

Summary: Understanding how river bedload responds to climate and land use changes and water resource management initiatives is critical in developing sustainable approaches to river management. The relative proportion of supply-related coarse bedload yield is strongly related to the wetness of the previous year. High-resolution, multiyear passive monitoring data can reveal unique controls on bedload dynamics specific to a site's hydrogeoclimatic context.

Summary: This study analyzed the validity of simple and wavelet-coupled Artificial Intelligence models for daily Suspended Sediment estimation in the Koyna River basin of India. The results showed that data pre-processing using wavelet transform significantly improves the model's predictive efficiency and reliability, with the Coiflet wavelet-coupled ANFIS model performing the best. Sensitivity analysis revealed the importance of the previous one-day SSC as the most crucial input variable for daily SSC estimation in the Koyna River basin.
