Nursing
Michael A. Carter, Amal S. H. Assa
Summary: Comparing the practice of nurse practitioners to medical practice has been ongoing for nearly 50 years. Despite the founders of this movement not intending for advanced practice nurses to be interchangeable with physicians, extensive literature suggests that nurse practitioners perform at an equal or higher level compared to physicians. However, this paper argues that the differences in ontology and epistemology between the two professions make such comparisons illogical.

Summary: This article discusses the often neglected issue of olfactory testing in clinical practice and highlights the significant limitations that loss of smell can have on everyday life. The authors summarize relevant studies and experiences, providing an overview of the possible causes of olfactory impairment and the methods used to test and diagnose the condition. The article also explores the link between nasal polyposis, chronic rhinitis, and olfactory impairment.

Summary: In this study, the authors optimize the tasks of emergency response fleets by proposing the Median Routing Problem (MRP) and the Enriched Median Routing Problem (E-MRP). By comparing the performance of the proposed E-MRP solutions with the current operational practice, the study demonstrates the effectiveness of the E-MRP solution in reducing emergency response times.

Summary: The study analyzed 1054 patient injury claims related to medical imaging in Finland from 1991 to 2017, with an average of 87 claims per year. The most common cause of claims was delayed diagnosis (38.3%), and the majority of claims were related to mammography, radiography, and MRI. About 30% of claims resulted in compensation, primarily due to medical malpractice.

Summary: Oxidative stress, caused by imbalance in redox homeostasis, is associated with various diseases. Antioxidants play a crucial role in correcting the imbalance by reducing overproduction of reactive oxygen species. However, comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of redox substances in vivo is still lacking, and further development of sensitive detection methods is needed for translational research.
