Summary: This study contributes to our understanding of the family correlates of child emotional and behavioral problems in Nepal. The findings suggest that parental mental and physical illness, family conflicts, and child-rearing methods are positively associated with both internalizing and externalizing problems in children. However, the effect sizes of these family variables are small.

Summary: This study found that upward mobility of household wealth in rural China is associated with better adolescent height and cognitive development. Therefore, government policies should be implemented to reduce the consequences of early-life deprivation. It is recommended to routinely document socioeconomic circumstances in healthcare records in low- and middle-income countries, given the importance of household wealth in child health.

Summary: This study explores the relationship between destructive interparental conflict and adolescents' emotional and behavioral problems, as well as the mediating roles of parent-child attachment and emotional insecurity. The results show that destructive interparental conflict negatively affects parent-child attachment and emotional security, which in turn impacts emotional and behavioral problems among adolescents.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between maternal metal and trace element concentrations during gestation and emotional and behavioral problems in 9-year-old children. The study found that higher concentrations of copper, monomethylarsonic acid, and lead during pregnancy were associated with an increased risk of internalizing and externalizing problems in children. Higher concentrations of molybdenum, nickel, and cobalt were associated with an increased risk of internalizing problems, and cadmium was associated with an increased risk of externalizing problems. Sex and genotypes also influenced these associations.

Summary: Children adopted from the public care system may face a range of risk factors that impact their mental health post-placement. Factors such as adverse childhood experiences and pre-adoptive moves can predict increased internalizing and externalizing problems. However, in rare cases, more pre-placement moves and time in care may actually reduce problems over time.

Summary: The study aims to identify subtypes of elementary school children based on their social, emotional, and behavioral problems. The derived profiles were validated by comparing two outcomes, namely peer problems and prosocial behaviors, across the different profile groups. The association between predictors, including gender, ethnicity, and covid-19 impact status, and students' profile membership was also examined. The findings emphasize the importance of early intervention in preventing specific or comorbid aspects of social, emotional, and behavioral problems.
