Summary: This study reviews the literature of the last 10 years on the use of nutraceuticals in the prevention and treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), mainly Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD). Despite promising pre-clinical data, adequate nutraceutical treatment for these diseases is still far from being established and further studies are necessary to support this hypothesis.

Summary: Prompt intervention in cases of large bowel obstruction leads to shorter hospital stays and a higher likelihood of discharge to home, but does not affect mortality rates. Female, Black, and low-income patients are less likely to receive prompt intervention.

Summary: This study investigated the use of arthroscopic meniscectomy in Spain from 2003 to 2018 and found an increase in the number of procedures performed during this period, particularly among older patients. The study showed that this increase is unnecessary, as previous research has shown that surgery is not superior to nonoperative treatment.

Summary: The study analyzed the surgical interventions and outcomes of patients with LBO, finding colorectal cancer to be the most common etiology and fecal diversion without resection to be the most common operation. Patients who had a resection and anastomosis with diverting loop ileostomy were most likely to undergo stoma reversal.

Summary: The study evaluated adherence to subcutaneous immunotherapy and found that dose modification and its frequency were the only factors related to nonadherence. The COVID-19 pandemic led to nearly a quarter of patients dropping out due to fear of infection, with short duration of AIT being the only predictor for drop-out.

Summary: The emergence of COVID-19 has led to an increase in public trust in cancer information from charitable organizations, religious organizations, and doctors, but a decrease in trust among non-Hispanic Blacks in information from government health agencies and family and friends. Further studies are needed to assess if this decline in trust will negatively impact preventive care participation among non-Hispanic Blacks.

Summary: This study investigated the driving mechanisms of groundwater chemical evolution based on long-term hydrochemical data from 19 groundwater monitoring sites in rapidly urbanizing areas of Shijiazhuang, China. The results show that the concentrations of various chemical components in groundwater gradually increase with the acceleration of urbanization, especially NO3, exceeding the World Health Organization drinking water standard. The driving factors of groundwater chemical evolution differ at different urbanization stages, suggesting that future groundwater management should control agricultural fertilizers, strengthen supervision of groundwater extraction, and prohibit non-compliant sewage discharge.

Summary: The results of this meta-analysis demonstrate that biologics are more effective than non-biological treatments in preventing postoperative recurrence in patients with Crohn's disease, with anti-TNFα agents showing superiority in preventing endoscopic recurrence. Additionally, infliximab and adalimumab have similar efficacy in preventing postoperative recurrence.

Summary: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is an aggressive and biologically heterogeneous disease. Standard first-line therapy is R-CHOP, while salvage high-dose chemotherapy with autologous stem cell transplant is the standard second-line treatment. However, not all patients are eligible for these treatments, and IgG-like bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) have shown promising efficacy in B-cell lymphomas by targeting CD20 on B cells and engaging T cells via CD3. BsAbs have a favorable toxicity profile and are being studied in new trials to confirm their efficacy and explore their use in different lines of therapy or in combination with other drugs.

Summary: During the study period, there was a significant decrease in the utilization of radical cystectomy for T1HG bladder cancer patients, especially during the BCG shortage period. The majority of patients opted for local treatment. Further research on the impact of treatment pattern changes on high-grade NMIBC patients is necessary.

Summary: Specialized care is often required for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). While outpatient care has become more common, hospitalizations still play a significant role in healthcare utilization for a sizable proportion of IBD patients. The focus on IBD care at the population level includes the shift from inpatient to outpatient care, the balance between emergency and elective hospitalizations, regionalization of specialty care, and the contribution of surgery and endoscopy to hospitalized care.

Summary: Limb length discrepancy is common in both pediatric and adult populations. Discrepancies less than 5 cm may lead to long-term morbidities, and recent literature suggests that even small discrepancies can contribute to pathologic changes such as pain, gait abnormalities, and osteoarthritis. Advances in magnetically controlled lengthening devices have increased accuracy and patient satisfaction, making it a viable option for treating discrepancies < 5 cm.
