Summary: The study found that the characteristics of content providers and content expression on the social media platform YouTube were more significant predictors of viewer engagement with suicide-themed content than the characteristics of the message itself. These findings have implications for both platform service providers and diverse groups participating in online discussions on suicide. YouTube has the potential to serve as a platform for open discussions, education, collective coping, and even the diagnosis of suicidal ideation.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the use of online health communities (OHCs) by NICU families and assess its impact on parent-provider relationships. Results showed that most NICU parents use OHCs to connect with other families and alleviate distress. Despite risks, the study found that OHC use does not have a harmful effect on the relationship between parents and their child's medical team.

Summary: Pundits and scholars suspect that Facebook may encourage Americans to seek out misinformation from other sources, but whether this is true or not is still uncertain. By exploiting a naturally-occurring interruption to Facebook's service, researchers found that during the outage, Google searches for pandemic misinformation tended to increase, suggesting a steady and transferable demand for health misinformation rather than Facebook stimulating misinformation search behavior. These findings emphasize the importance of examining both the supply and demand sides of misinformation.

Summary: Benign and malignant thyroid diseases are linked to the occurrence of extrathyroidal malignancies, including colorectal cancers. Understanding the relationship between these diseases can provide insights into their etiology and/or progression, as well as potential shared genetic and environmental factors. Exploring the underlying molecular mechanisms can lead to improved clinical management and increased surveillance for patients with thyroid diseases at a higher risk of developing extrathyroidal malignancies.

Summary: Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder in individuals with XY genotype, characterized by the presence of female reproductive structures. The main complications of PMDS are infertility and the risk of malignant degeneration. We report a case of a 49-year-old man with PMDS who declined surgical treatment. Subsequent imaging studies showed no signs of malignancy, but regular follow-up is necessary.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed and meta-analyzed the efficacy of sleeve gastrectomy (SG) with concomitant hiatal hernia repair (SG + HHR) versus SG with fundoplication (SG + FP) on gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) remission in patients with obesity. The results showed that SG + FP had better control of GERD compared to SG + HHR, despite a higher overall complication rate. Both strategies can be considered as suitable alternatives to conventional SG in patients with obesity and concomitant hiatal hernia and/or GERD.

Summary: Basosquamous cell carcinoma (BSCC) is a rare malignancy that occurs on sun-exposed areas of the skin. This article reports the case of a 70-year-old male with BSCC in the nipple-areola complex, which is the first reported case in this area. The patient presented with a fast-growing bleeding ulcerated lesion that involved the nipple-areola complex. The diagnosis was confirmed through biopsy and the patient underwent surgery without any signs of recurrence or metastases at the follow-up.
