Summary: Research has revealed that a higher degree of cross-linking in hyaluronic acid fillers may not necessarily lead to more severe adverse effects. Monitoring cytokine induction and gene expression in macrophages can provide a predictive method for biomaterial-induced responses in patients.

Summary: Patients who received knee injections within 1 month before arthroscopic meniscectomy had a doubled risk of postoperative infections compared to those who did not receive injections, while injections administered more than 1 month prior to surgery were not significantly associated with postoperative surgical-site infection.

Summary: In this study, gold nanoparticles (BT-AuNPs) synthesized from BT extract were found to have anti-inflammatory and skin-moisturizing properties in keratinocytes. BT-AuNPs showed no cytotoxic effect on keratinocytes at concentrations below 200 μg/mL. The anti-inflammatory properties of BT-AuNPs were regulated by inhibiting the NF-kappa B and MAPKs signaling pathways, and BT-AuNPs promoted hyaluronic acid production in keratinocytes by regulating the expression of hyaluronic acid synthase and hyaluronidase genes.

Summary: Loss of skin elasticity and elastic properties that occur after 30 years of age can lead to wrinkles, skin laxity, and blemishes. People worldwide seek ways to rejuvenate their facial skin, preferring non-invasive methods due to the drawbacks of invasive methods. Skin hydration, particularly through hyaluronic acid (HA), is a popular non-invasive approach. However, the lipophilic properties of HA limit its effectiveness in penetrating the skin. Nanoparticles such as liposomes, niosomes, ethosomes, and ionic liquids have been suggested as carriers of HA to overcome this limitation. This study explores the use of nanoparticles for non-invasive delivery of HA to the epidermis and dermis for skin rejuvenation.

Summary: Hyaluronic acid (HA) is widely used in various medical fields. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the use of HA in andrology. The results suggest that HA can effectively enhance penile diameter and may be an alternative treatment for premature ejaculation and Peyronie's disease. However, more robust evidence is needed to establish a consensus and improve injection techniques and HA products in andrology.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided intra-articular injections of hyaluronic acid (HA) with or without corticosteroids (CS) on pain relief and functional improvement in patients with hip osteoarthritis (HOA). The results suggest that this treatment approach is effective in reducing pain and improving function.

Summary: For patients with knee osteoarthritis, intra-articular corticosteroids provide acute and short-term pain relief, while hyaluronic acid offers longer-term treatment effects. More research is needed before platelet-rich plasma and stem cell therapies can be widely recommended for knee osteoarthritis patients. Several new injectables, such as antienerve growth factor antibodies, Wnt pathway inhibitors, and capsaicin, are showing promise to enter the market soon.
