Summary: As-Co in EN was used to evaluate RA/Ag NPs as corrosion inhibitor for AA 2030 in 3.5% NaCl media. Wavelet and statistical methods were used to interpret the ECN results of As-Co and Sy-Co. The SDPS plot of As-Co showed that Q decreased with the addition of the inhibitor up to 200 ppm, indicating a decreased corrosion rate. The use of As-Co prevented recording extra signals and made the estimation of inhibiting effect of RA/Ag NPs more satisfactory compared to Sy-Co. The prepared RA/Ag NPs were characterized using FESEM, XRD analysis, and FT-IR.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of exogenous melatonin (MT) on the morpho-physiological and biochemical attributes of Ranunculus asiaticus under normal and drought conditions. The results showed that the foliar application of MT significantly improved the growth parameters and drought tolerance of R. asiaticus, with the most significant effect observed at a concentration of 200 μM.

Summary: The present study developed an experimental system to explore ethylene-dependent responses and assess its role in salinity tolerance and ion accumulation using intact growing Ranunculus sceleratus plants. The system involved cultivating plants in sealed plastic containers in a modified gaseous atmosphere with the introduction of ethylene or 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP). High humidity induced ethylene-dependent elongation of leaf petioles, which was inhibited by 1-MCP. Exogenous ethylene decreased Na+ accumulation in NaCl-treated plants, while 1-MCP increased it. The system was further calibrated with ethylene and silica xerogel for inducing or preventing petiole elongation. The results demonstrate the potential of R. sceleratus as a model species for studying ethylene-dependent salinity responses and ion accumulation.

Summary: Understanding mechanisms of acquired resistance to molecular targeted therapy is crucial for improving patient outcomes and developing effective treatment strategies. The case presented highlights the rare occurrence of mTOR mutations as a mechanism of resistance and the importance of tumor molecular profiling in precision medicine.

Summary: Chara is usually found in hard and alkaline waters with low level of phosphorus concentration. Calcite encrustation with phosphorus co-precipitation is important for Chara's growth and maintaining a low nutrient state. However, the effects and mechanisms of elevated phosphorus content on Chara are not well understood.

Summary: The FGF-FGFR signaling pathway and the VEGF-VEGFR signaling pathway play important roles in the treatment of tumors, and inhibitors targeting these two pathways can optimize therapeutic effects and expand the antitumor range. In addition, biomarkers should be developed in the future to predict efficacy, and combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors is a promising direction.

Summary: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a prevalent chronic liver disease for which no drug treatment has been approved. This study shows that PPDPF inhibits the development of hepatic steatosis by negatively regulating mTORC1-S6K-SREBP1 signaling, suggesting a potential therapeutic candidate for NAFLD treatment.

Summary: This study investigates the limitations of cell migration and proliferation in cell colonies due to contact inhibition. A multiphase field model is used to analyze the growth dynamics of a cell colony consisting of proliferating cells, taking into account the mechanism of contact inhibition of proliferation through local mechanical interactions. By comparing nonmigrating and migrating cells, the study provides a quantitative characterization of the dynamics and analyzes the velocity of the colony boundary in both cases. Additionally, the study examines single cell velocities, the distribution of neighboring cells, and the influence of stress and age on cell positions and their relationships with each other.

Summary: Hydrate formation experiments were conducted to evaluate the synergy between three natural proteins and four standard reference kinetic hydrate inhibitors. The results showed that casein peptone had the best synergy with PVCap, whey protein had the best synergy with HIOP-1800, and bovine serum albumin consistently showed synergy with the standard KHIs.

Summary: This study investigated the subacute toxicity of N-isopropyl-N-phenyl-1,4-phenylenediamine (IPPD) on zebrafish embryos. The results showed that IPPD exposure caused developmental toxicity, disrupted the GH/IGF and HPT axis, and induced oxidative stress in zebrafish.

Summary: Glioblastoma demonstrates dynamic responses to its microenvironment and resistance to treatment. Glutamate signaling, particularly through the metabotropic receptor 3 (GRM3), plays a crucial role in modulating chemoresistance and transcriptional profile of GBM cells. Inhibition of GRM3 receptor enhances sensitivity of GBM to chemotherapy, providing potential therapeutic strategies for GBM treatment.

Summary: This study reports the design, synthesis, and selective antibacterial activity of 14 novel third-generation ZAF derivatives against P. gingivalis. These compounds displayed superior/selective antibacterial activity, bactericidal effects, inhibition of biofilm growth, no hemolytic activity, and lower cytotoxicity against mammalian cells compared to ZAF.

Summary: Algae and bacteria in the ocean have complex interactions, and bacteria have developed anti-algal strategies. This study reveals a novel strategy in which a marine bacterium produces 4-BP to inhibit phytoplankton by affecting key metabolic processes. The presence of genes responsible for 4-BP synthesis in diverse bacterial members in the global ocean suggests its widespread use in mediating bacteria-algae antagonistic relationships.
