Summary: This study proposed a novel and user-friendly clinical protocol for evaluating the deformability of arm vessels. The results showed that the protocol was feasible, effective, and suitable for daily clinical practice, allowing for the estimation of patient-specific compliance and distensibility of peripheral arteries and veins. It may contribute to the development of personalized solutions for vascular access.

Summary: This study compared the effects of Nordic hamstring exercise (NHE) variations with different hip range of motion on the muscle-tendon unit (MTU) and fascicle function. The results showed a decoupling between fascicle and MTU length during the exercise, with hip flexion resulting in longer lengths of the MTU and fascicles. This suggests that the stretch of the elastic tissue of the MTU plays an important role in energy absorption during NHE.

Summary: This study aimed to quantify normative values of phase-specific intra-bolus pressure (IBP) and esophageal distensibility using 4D analysis of high-resolution impedance manometry (HRIM). The results showed differences in esophageal pressure and esophagogastric junction distensibility index across different swallow phases.

Summary: Youth with SLE transitioning from pediatric to adult care face risks of poor outcomes, with a significant proportion failing to transfer to adult subspecialist care within 12 months and experiencing decreased medication adherence. Overall, ambulatory care decreased among those lost to follow-up, with a decrease in acute care use across all groups.

Summary: This study aimed to identify risk factors and characteristics for the repeated attendance at an emergency department (ED) following a seizure. The study found that patients who presented repeatedly with seizures at ED were at significant risk of death over a four-year period and required proactive clinical follow-up. Patients who were homeless, from socially deprived areas, had alcohol problems, co-morbid mental health conditions, and compliance issues were over-represented in this group, suggesting the need for enhanced targeted intervention for this cohort.

Summary: The study proposes a combined in-vitro and in-silico approach to estimate the distensibility of a deformable aorta replica. The dynamics of an aortic silicone arch were analyzed under physiological working conditions through a pulse-duplicator experiment and a Fluid-Structure Interaction simulation. The results suggest that the estimation of local distensibility from in-silico tests is reliable, overcoming the limitations of experimental methods.

Summary: To mitigate the risk for post-operative complications, researchers developed a compliance-matching stent-graft and optimized it using computational analysis. The compliance-matching grafts achieved the distensibility of healthy human aortas and maintained their properties in a wide range of conditions. These grafts offer a valuable improvement over existing prostheses and could potentially reduce the risk of complications attributed to excessive graft stiffness.

Summary: This article describes a dynamic scanning protocol for ultrasound assessment of the adult hip, using different maneuvers for various conditions. Real-time patient examination and ultrasound scanning videos are combined for convenience and better insight. The text focuses on common conditions around the hip where dynamic ultrasound scanning provides valuable information in addition to static imaging. The protocol is prepared by an international consensus of several experts in the field of musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Summary: Correct determination of volume status is crucial in clinical evaluation for critically ill patients, as both hypovolaemia and hypervolaemia increase morbidity and mortality. The inferior vena cava (IVC) has been proposed as a marker of volume status by indirect assessment of central venous pressure or fluid responsiveness. However, the interpretation of ultrasonographic evaluation of the IVC is complex and there are limitations to its clinical application.

Summary: The study showed that individualized positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) significantly reduced postoperative atelectasis in patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy, as evaluated using lung ultrasonography. Compared to standardized PEEP, individualized PEEP improved respiratory compliance and resulted in lower lung ultrasound scores postoperatively.

Summary: This study compared different approaches to calculating youth physical activity compliance and associations with health indicators using data from the International Children's Accelerometry Database. The results showed that youth who completed an average of 60 min of moderate-to-vigorous-intensity physical activity (MVPA) per day did not experience superior health benefits compared to youth who completed 60 min of MVPA every day. Therefore, guidelines should encourage youth to achieve an average of 60 min of MVPA per day.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the proportion of compliance to chemo-radiation treatment among cervical cancer patients at Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI). Data of 196 cervical cancer patients who received chemo-radiation therapy at UCI between November 2020 to May 2021 were retrospectively reviewed. The study found that only 11.7% of the patients adhered to the complete treatment plan.
