Summary: The study compared the effectiveness of Er:YAG laser irradiation and mechanical debridement in treating peri-implantitis, finding significant improvements in probing depth for both treatments. Mechanical debridement led to a notable reduction in anaerobic bacterial counts.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the additional effect of systemic amoxicillin and metronidazole in non-surgical treatment for peri-implantitis. The results showed that non-surgical treatment reduced inflammation around dental implants, but the addition of antibiotics did not significantly improve the treatment outcome.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the adjunctive benefits of Er:YAG laser irradiation for regenerative surgical therapy of peri-implantitis-associated osseous defects. The results showed that using laser irradiation during peri-implantitis regenerative therapy may aid in better probing pocket depth reduction, particularly in narrow infrabony defects. However, a larger sample size and longer follow-up are needed to confirm if Er:YAG laser irradiation provides additional clinical benefits for peri-implantitis regenerative therapy.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the advantages and limitations of laser therapy as an adjuvant in the treatment of peri-implant mucositis. The results showed that laser therapy significantly reduced bleeding on probing and led to a reduction in probing depth, but the difference was not statistically significant.

Summary: The aim of the study was to restore similar surface properties and elemental composition to virgin implants after debridement of contaminated titanium implant surfaces covered with debris. Different debridement methods were applied, with Er:YAG long pulse and ultrasonic groups found to be the most effective in debridement and showing the closest topography to virgin implants.

Summary: This study investigated the outcomes of non-surgical therapy for peri-implantitis with or without adjunctive diode laser application. The results showed that repeated adjunctive diode laser treatment did not provide significant benefits compared to mechanical instrumentation alone.

Summary: The study compared the effect of erythritol air polishing and piezoelectric ultrasonic scaling in the non-surgical treatment of peri-implantitis. Results showed no significant difference in treatment outcomes at 3 months, but a majority of patients still required further surgical treatment.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of ozonized water for peri-implant mucositis and found significant improvements in clinical indexes in the experimental group compared to the control group. Further investigation is needed to determine the role of ozone in managing peri-implant mucositis.

Summary: This study compared the microbiota in the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) before and after mechanical debridement (MD) with antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) in patients with peri-implantitis. The results showed significant differences in bacterial community structure between the two groups after 180 days of treatment. The study identified specific bacterial genera and infectious disease-related pathways that were differentially distributed between the two groups.

Summary: This study aimed to compare and evaluate radiographic and clinical parameters and salivary proinflammatory cytokine profiles in obese individuals with peri-implantitis. The results showed that PDT adjunctive to MD improved periodontal parameters in obese individuals with peri-implantitis and they had higher levels of proinflammatory cytokines.

Summary: Recent studies have found a correlation between titanium particle release and peri-implantitis, but little is known about the effect of different non-surgical instruments on particle release or resolution of peri-implantitis. This study recruited patients with peri-implantitis for a randomized clinical trial, and found that non-surgical treatment with implant-specific instruments significantly decreased probing depth of peri-implantitis.

Summary: This study compared erythritol air polishing with saline cleansing of implant surfaces during surgical treatment of peri-implantitis. The results showed no significant differences between the two methods in terms of bleeding on probing, plaque score, probing pocket depth, and marginal bone loss, but a significant difference was found in suppuration on probing. Both methods resulted in low treatment success rates.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the clinical and microbiological outcomes of administering metronidazole in combination with minocycline as a local adjunct to nonsurgical treatment of peri-implantitis. Results showed that treatment success rates were significantly higher in MM and MC groups compared to NST group, with MM group demonstrating better performance in reducing pocket probing depth in deep pockets.

Summary: The study investigated the photomodulatory effects of an 810-nm diode laser on osteoblasts, HGFs, and their co-cultures in vitro. The laser treatment increased cell proliferation and gene expression, particularly for COL1a, suggesting stimulation of ECM formation signaling. Fibroblast co-cultures affected the up-regulation of ALP expression in osteoblastic cultures.
