Summary: Ternary I-III-VI quantum dots have attracted attention in various fields due to their lower toxicities, greener synthetic methods, and tunable optoelectronic properties. Water-soluble AgInS core QDs and AgInS/ZnS core/shell QDs were synthesized using an eco-friendly hydrothermal method in this study. The electrochemical properties of the QDs were evaluated using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry.

Summary: This study reports the acidity constant values of four anthraquinones in aqueous media for the first time, and presents their application in electrochemical quantification and UV-Vis spectrophotometry when forming inclusion complexes with 2-hydroxy-propyl-beta-cyclodextrin. Cyclic voltammetry showed higher sensitivity and wider linear range for quinizarin detection and quantification compared to spectrophotometry, also demonstrating an advantage in the presence of interferents.

Summary: The reduction behavior of nimorazole (NMZ) was investigated using cyclic voltammetry in different pH conditions. The results showed that in acidic medium, an irreversible cathodic process involving four electrons occurred, leading to the formation of hydroxylamine derivative. In alkaline medium, the reduction process occurred in two steps, with the formation of nitro-anion radical in a reversible one-electron process followed by the formation of hydroxylamine derivative. It was also observed that the nitro-anion radical could generate superoxide anion through a futile cycle with molecular oxygen.

Summary: The Ce/Cr redox flow battery system was experimentally studied for the first time in an aqueous acidic medium, providing valuable data for potential alternative redox couples in redox flow batteries through optimization of acid and active ion concentrations, as well as analysis of electrode surface morphology. Results showed promising cell potential and discharge capacity values, indicating the potential for further exploration of alternative redox couples in redox flow batteries.

Summary: Electrosorption-induced mechanical stress generation of up to 600 kPa in large-scale nanoporous silicon cantilevers wetted by aqueous electrolytes is reversible and adjustable at will by potential variations of approximate to 1 V. This electro-actuation is traced to the concerted action of 100 billions of parallel nanopores per square centimeter cross-section and determination of the capacitive charge-stress coupling parameter upon ion adsorption and desorption.

Summary: The electrooxidation process of gallic acid (GA) in an aqueous medium was reexamined using cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemical studies on a gold electrode. The results revealed that the redox process of GA is an irreversible two-electron process, with the formation of ortho-quinone as the final product. The acidity constant of the ortho-quinone was determined for the first time (pKa = 5.33). The number of exchanged electrons and protons depended on the pH conditions, with (2e, 2H+) exchanged at pH < 4.24 and pH > 5.33, and (2e, 1H+) exchanged at 4.24 < pH < 5.33. The existence of a DISP2 mechanism leading to the formation of ortho-quinone through disproportionation of semiquinone radicals was demonstrated.

Summary: Nanostructured birnessite is studied as an electrode material for aqueous high power electrochemical energy storage and desalination devices. The capacitive response of birnessite in neutral pH aqueous electrolytes is attributed to the adsorption of cations and protons, while the addition of buffer affects the charge storage mechanism by inducing proton-coupled electron transfer.
