Summary: Periodontitis is a progressive disease that causes bone and tooth loss. This study showed the importance of glucose-regulated protein-78 (GRP78) in the differentiation of periodontal ligament stem cells and their potential for periodontal regeneration. The study also confirmed the relationship between GRP78 and dentine matrix protein-1 (DMP1) in promoting osteogenesis and angiogenesis.

Summary: This study developed a new nonwoven scaffold for periodontal tissue engineering. Nonwovens of 16% gelatin/5% hydroxyapatite with additional porosity were produced by electrospinning and in situ cross-linking. The results showed that the scaffold efficiently supported the adhesion and survival of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) and periodontal ligament fibroblasts (PDLFs), indicating its potential applications.

Summary: Mesenchymal stem cells in the periodontal ligament exhibit differential osteogenic potential, with high-PDLCs showing stronger osteogenic capacity. Epigenetic markers and non-coding RNAs, particularly miRs and lncRNAs, play important roles in regulating the expression of osteogenic-related genes like RUNX2. Understanding the distinct transcriptional profiles of lncRNAs and biogenesis machinery in PDLCs can help uncover the underlying mechanisms of osteogenesis.

Summary: In this study, a three-dimensional bioprinting technology was used to create a multi-cellular microtissue model resembling the PD ligament-alveolar bone biointerface for the first time. The optimized parameters and assessed properties of the constructs demonstrated the successful development of a stable microtissue with homogeneous cell distribution, which maintained cell viability under microfluidic conditions.

Summary: The study suggests that CGRP may play a critical role in bone healing by modulating the biological function of M2 macrophages and influencing osteogenesis. Results indicate that CGRP can affect the secretion of osteogenic factors and have multiple effects on MC3T3 osteogenesis through regulating the osteoimmune environment.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of the αCGRP-YAP pathway on osteogenesis and angiogenesis around implants during bone healing. Results showed that αCGRP deficiency hampers bone regeneration and vasculature formation, but this can be rescued by overexpressing αCGRP and YAP. In-vivo results suggest that the αCGRP-YAP pathway promotes angiogenesis and osteogenesis, particularly in the early stages of bone healing.

Summary: Acupressure at acupoints with high sensitivity to pain was more effective in reducing the frequency of stable angina pectoris episodes compared to acupoints with low sensitivity. Patients in the high-sensitivity group also reported higher treatment satisfaction. The study suggests that acupressure may be a beneficial intervention for preventing episodes of stable angina pectoris.
