Summary: Although progress has been made in diagnosing and treating acute coronary syndromes, cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of death globally. High-sensitivity troponin assays have allowed for rapid diagnosis in suspected cases. Dual antiplatelet therapy and additional preventive measures are recommended. The diagnosis and management of acute coronary syndromes continue to evolve, especially in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Summary: Dysfunctional BM EPCs are involved in MDS patients, especially in higher-risk MDS patients, indicating that improving the supporting ability for hematopoiesis and immune regulation ability of BM EPCs may be a promising therapeutic approach for MDS patients.

Summary: Inflammation plays a key role in atherosclerosis and its clinical presentation, including coronary artery disease (CAD) and acute coronary syndromes (ACS). Cytokines, particularly IL-1 beta, IL-6, chemokines, IFN-gamma, and TNF-alpha, are associated with endothelial dysfunction, vascular inflammation, and atherosclerosis. Therapies targeting these cytokines, such as aspirin, statins, colchicine, IL-1 beta inhibitors, IL-6 inhibitors, TNF-ff inhibitors, and IL-1 receptor antagonists, have shown promise in reducing cardiovascular events.

Summary: This study reveals the protective role of FGF23 in AKI, promoting renal regeneration, vascular repair, and attenuating damage. FGF23 interacts with the SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling, inhibiting EPC senescence and migration, while not affecting angiogenesis.

Summary: Vascular injury is a common issue in coronary artery disease, and scientists have discovered that endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) play a crucial role in angiogenesis. Research on EPCs has shown promising progress regardless of pathology or clinical technology. This review focuses on the origins and cell markers of EPCs, the connection with coronary artery disease, and past studies on EPC-capturing stents and EPC infusion therapy to inform future developments.

Summary: Antithrombotic therapy is a crucial element in the treatment of acute coronary syndromes, with a focus on antiplatelet therapy. However, balancing the benefits and bleeding risks remains controversial. This review examines clinical research and recommended approaches to management in this area.

Summary: This review provides an overview of global mortality from acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and examines the regional and temporal changes in the epidemiology of ACS over the past 20 years. It shows that mortality from ACS is higher in men than in women, and highest in lower-income global regions. High-income regions have seen progressive reductions in mortality from ACS, while Asia and Latin America have stable levels of mortality. There is a need for more complete epidemiological data to identify countries with the greatest burden of death from ACS and the need for preventive strategies.

Summary: Depression is a major psychological disease that increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, especially acute coronary syndrome. The decrease in the number of endothelial progenitor cells is closely related to depression development. EPCs might serve as a new target for evaluating the severity of depression and its complications.

Summary: Frailty is a clinical condition characterized by a decline in biological reserves, physiological mechanism failure, and vulnerability to stressors. This review focuses on the role of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in frailty, highlighting their impaired function, number, and survival in the elderly. It also discusses the modification of EPCs in age-related diseases such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus. The review concludes by exploring interventions that may restore EPCs expression and function in frail individuals.

Summary: This study found that higher levels of reticulated platelets at baseline are significantly correlated with a more potent endothelial progenitor cell response in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction. However, the correlation between reticulated platelet quantity and endothelial progenitor cell markers weakened at 24 hours after primary percutaneous intervention.

Summary: This review provides an update on the role of EPCs in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), discussing their association with cardiovascular risk factors, coronary atherosclerosis, myocardial ischemia, and their potential effects in post-PCI in-stent restenosis. EPCs are emerging as novel predictive biomarkers of long-term outcomes in CAD patients.

Summary: This study demonstrated the regulatory effects of carvacrol on endothelial repair in spontaneously hypertensive rats. Results showed that carvacrol promoted the migration and proliferation of endothelial progenitor cells, increased eNOS expression and activity, reduced reactive oxygen species production and cellular senescence, and improved vascular function.

Summary: This review discusses the current evidence on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, management, and prognosis of acute coronary syndromes (ACS). ACS is a sudden reduction in blood supply to the heart and includes ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), non-STEMI (NSTEMI), and unstable angina. Each year, more than 7 million people are diagnosed with ACS worldwide. Prompt intervention, such as primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for STEMI patients and invasive coronary angiography with revascularization for high-risk NSTE-ACS patients, is associated with reduced mortality.

Summary: The presence of specific patterns of functioning, resilience, and coping abilities among SSD patients with autistic traits was suggested by the study. Patients with autistic traits showed higher scores in activities of community living but lower scores in work skills, self-esteem, and perception of the self. They also reported higher scores in self-blame, use of emotional support, and humor domains in coping.

Summary: This study highlights the fact that women with Autism Spectrum Disorder are more likely to be overlooked or misdiagnosed compared to men, often resulting in a delay in diagnosis. Females also tend to seek help for comorbid conditions later than males, indicating a need for increased awareness and understanding of gender-specific differences in ASD diagnosis and treatment.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between separation anxiety (SA) and the age at onset of panic disorder (PD) in a sample of outpatient PD patients. Three homogeneous subgroups were identified based on age of onset and symptom severity. Patients with early onset/severe PD had higher SA scores and SA was predictive of impairment in various domains of individual functioning. These findings have important implications for preventive interventions targeting early risk factors for PD.
