Summary: The CORNERSTONE AF study is a prospective, randomized, multicenter trial designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an adjunctive empirical LAPWI following standard AF ablation in persistent AF patients. A total of 331 patients have been enrolled in the study, and the primary endpoint of whether there is documented atrial arrhythmia postprocedure will be evaluated through a clinical follow-up period of 18 months.

Summary: This study found that the adoption of a GFD in T1D patients with asymptomatic CD did not significantly affect HRQoL and SPW, but worsened with symptom onset and increased HbA(1c). The findings suggest that the transition to a GFD can be successfully made in this population without adversely impacting quality of life.

Summary: Premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) during exercise test are associated with an elevated risk of mortality in asymptomatic individuals, especially frequent PVCs. Recovery phase PVCs have higher specificity than exercise phase PVCs in predicting outcomes. Regular exercise ECG examination is recommended for middle-aged asymptomatic individuals to assess the risk of mortality.

Summary: Systemic autoimmune myopathies are rare rheumatic diseases characterized by muscle weakness due to inflammation. There is a lack of research on the effects of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies, such as exercise training, on pain and fatigue perception in these patients. Therefore, systematic reviews on the effectiveness of exercise training on pain and fatigue perception can contribute to clinical management.

Summary: Patients with Parkinson's disease may live for many years after diagnosis, experiencing a range of symptoms including persistent pain. However, limited treatment options and incomplete understanding of the mechanisms underlying pain in PD pose challenges. The heterogeneity and methodological differences in research studies lead to inconclusive evidence and a lack of clear conclusions.

Summary: The feasibility and effectiveness of virtual visits (VVs) for cardiac electrophysiology patients were evaluated and patient experience with virtual care was described. The study found that VVs were as feasible and effective as in-person visits, with no significant differences in remote monitoring alert disappearance rate, improvement in symptoms, and patient satisfaction. Virtual visits proved to be a viable and effective alternative to in-person visits.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the clinical benefits between targeted ablation of all Premature ventricular complex (PVC) morphologies and ablation of predominant PVC only. Analysis of 171 patients with reduced LVEF and high PVC burden (>10%/day) showed that ablation of all PVC morphologies was associated with significantly lower PVC burden and improvement of LVEF at long-term follow-up, compared with ablation of the dominant morphology only.

Summary: Over the past 25 years, there has been a significant interest in developing new catheters and energy sources to optimize the durability and safety of ablation, as well as studying the mechanisms for atrial fibrillation and devising ablation strategies. Although pulmonary vein ablation has been the basis for every AF ablation, it has been recognized that this is not enough to cure all patients, especially those with non-paroxysmal AF.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of beta-blockers (BB) and ACE inhibitors/angiotensin receptor blockers (ACEi/ARBs), alone or in combination, in preventing recurrences of Takotsubo syndrome (TTS). Summary: This study evaluated the impact of a novel catheter torque tool (Peritorq) on catheter integrity during the use of diagnostic and ablation catheters in an adult porcine model. The results showed that there were no significant differences in catheter measurements with and without the torque tool. Subjective assessment by the operator indicated significant improvements in maneuverability and stability using the torque tool, with no significant impact on catheter integrity.

Summary: Pseudo-pacemaker syndrome (PPMS) is a rare complication of first-degree atrio-ventricular (AV) block that causes symptoms of hemodynamic instability without an implanted pacemaker. This article provides a comprehensive review on PPMS, presenting a unique case and analyzing 14 articles, including our case report. The most common age group affected by PPMS is middle-aged and young adults, with palpitations being the most common symptom. Treatment should be tailored to the specific etiology, although the management of PPMS due to dual AV nodal physiology (DAVNP) without AV nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT) presentation remains unclear.

Summary: The difference between subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillators (S-ICDs) and transvenous ICDs (TV-ICDs) lies in the extra-thoracic implantation of S-ICDs, without endovascular components. S-ICDs have been rapidly adopted due to their improved safety profile, especially among younger patients. Although S-ICDs show comparable efficacy, reliability, and safety outcomes to TV-ICDs, technical issues limit their employment, making them an alternative rather than a mainstream option.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study investigates the use of ECG as a screening tool to predict the severity of COVID-19 upon admission to the emergency department. The study finds that abnormal ECG rhythm is associated with decreased survival and increased risk of death. Summary: Cardiomyopathies are heart diseases characterized by dysfunction of the heart muscle, which can result in heart failure and life-threatening arrhythmias. Accurate patient history, thorough physical examination, and electrocardiogram are important for raising diagnostic suspicion, but cardiovascular imaging techniques are essential for diagnosing specific cardiomyopathies, assessing disease-related risk, and monitoring therapy response. Echocardiography is commonly the first exam used due to its non-invasiveness, wide availability, and cost-effectiveness. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging can complement the information obtained from echocardiography. The genetic basis of cardiomyopathies has also been studied, and the list of potentially pathogenic genetic mutations is expected to expand. This review aims to discuss the echocardiographic, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, and genetic features of several cardiomyopathies.
